Live-in caregivers are just that - they live in your home with you and are available most hours of the day to provide care and assistance as needed. Another benefit is with a caregiver always present you having someone ready to assist in case of a fall or accident or if you simply feel more comfortable always having someone in the house with you. The downside to this arrangement is that it can be expensive, and you may not have the privacy that you are accustomed to.

24 (twenty-four) hour care is provided by a staff of professional caregivers who work shifts and come to your home for a set number of hours each day to provide care until the next caregiver ‘comes on shift’. The downside to this is you are dealing a group of individuals instead one live-in caregiver.

Live in caregivers are a good option if you only need assistance with certain tasks, or if you prefer to have more control over your own schedule. Generally speaking a live in caregiver is available for up to sixteen hours. 24-hour care is around the clock care and, counterintuitively, provides less privacy that a live-in caregiver. 

Ultimately, the decision of whether to use live-in or hourly caregivers will come down to your own needs and preferences. If you are comfortable with the idea of someone living in your home, and you need near-constant care, then a live-in caregiver may be the best option for you. 

Or if you only need assistance part of the time then a caregiver who can provide some warm companionship, assist with meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, and some personal care then a part-time caregiver may be another option to consider. This is also a great choice if you prefer more independence, and only need occasional assistance. Ultimately, the decision is up to you, and it is important to choose the option that will work best for your individual needs.
