How Does Live-In Care Work?
With “live-in” caregiving, caregivers typically work between 4 and 5 days each week while providing care in the client’s home. Live-in caregivers must be provided with a bed and allowed an 8-hour period to sleep at night. However, their sleep may be disrupted to provide care throughout the night. In addition, live-in caregivers are given a 4-hour break during daytime hours while another caregiver may cover for them. An alternative caregiver may also work the days the primary caregiver is off.
