Michael Jones, CSA, CDP
Co-Owner and President
Michael Jones is the President of Comfort Keepers of Sarasota, Bradenton, and Venice covering both Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Comfort Keepers is a national franchise with more than 650 offices across the country and in 7 countries. Comfort Keepers specializes in providing unique private duty in-home care.
Michael was only seven, when he felt thrust into the role of head of household and experienced how his family bonded to care for each other through their sorrow and hardship. Caring for others has been a cornerstone of his life's work ever since.
In his early career as a financial planner, Michael witnessed how older clients were often abused by unethical advisors. This further strengthened his determination to protect the vulnerable--especially seniors. In fact, it became his mission.
As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP, CLU, ChFC,) Michael spent 15 years helping people accumulate and protect assets so they could attain their financial goals and reach their dreams. After moving to Sarasota in 2000 to assist his parents, he realized that the strongest need for seniors today is to be able to stay in their own homes.
Michael believes that with Comfort Keepers he has found the perfect business to allow him to continue his passion to be able to assist people with their hopes and dreams. His mission is to enable seniors to live independently with dignity in their own homes.
In 2002 he attained his Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation. With his knowledge he is able to be a great resource and is a highly sought after speaker by many organizations in the community. He is a founding member of the Florida Chapter of the State Homecare Association of America. He is a two term past President for the Sarasota County Aging Network and is currently serving on its board of directors. In the past Michael has also served on the leadership council of the local Alzheimer’s Association.
Michael hosts a weekly talk show, “Thriving on the Suncoast,” on SNN TV. The show centers on informative and educational interviews with area experts on protecting your health and you’re your wealth. Previously he hosted the weekly TV show, “Connecting with Seniors,” for 5 ½ years. Michael has become the go-to person for expertise on senior homecare, fraud issues, safety in the home, and paying for homecare, appearing on ABC 7 and WSRQ radio and the Brian Tracy Show. He has written monthly articles for many community papers over the years and currently writes for the University Ledger.
He was featured in Scene Magazines “Men on the Scene”
Michael personally heads up Comfort Keepers “Senior Hunger and Malnutrition food Drive” The annual drive is a coordinated effort to collect food from a variety of local collection points and educate the community and our seniors about nutritional issues. All food collected is donated to the All Faiths Food Bank who specifically designates it for local community seniors in need. He also leads the Comfort Keepers team annually in the fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association’s, “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.”
“I am so grateful each time I hear from our clients and their families, how we transform their lives from worry and frustration to one of ease, joy and peace of mind.”
Charlotte Jones, RN, MS, BSN, CDP
Charlotte Jones, RN, MS, BSN, CDP, CADDCT is approved by the National Council of Certified Dementia
Practitioners, LLC. as a certified dementia practitioner (CDP) and certified Alzheimer's disease and dementia care trainer (CADDCT). She created an approved curriculum for Assisted Living Facilities in Level 1 and Level 2 Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. She is an approved DOEA trainer by Florida Elder Affairs for Assisted Living Facilities in Level 1 and Level 2 Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. She was responsible for the CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program) accreditation in our Bradenton office.
Charlotte earned her Masters of Science with a concentration in Nursing Education from University of South Florida. As a clinical nurse her greatest passion was educating her patients and their families. As a nurse educator she has the ability to share her knowledge and experience with clients, their families, our staff and caregivers. She is always looking for ways to improve our client's lives as well as those in the community. She is a great believer of having our clients maintain their independence.
Nursing is a second career for Charlotte. Her first seven years after high school were in the Hospitality Industry. Working from the bottom up to front office manager in the hotel business she understands team work. The years of hospitality cemented her focus as a customer service representative. Customer service is her focus first and foremost. She has been responsible for our home health aide orientation, ongoing in-service computer training and yearly in-service. Charlotte is the "glue" that leads our team in day to day operations along with our General Manager. Working daily as a liaison between our clients, their families, our caregivers and office staff to ensure the satisfaction of our clients and staff.
Charlotte earned her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from Stevenson University (previously known as Villa Julie College) in Stevenson, Maryland. She chose nursing due to her nurturing nature and the varied disciplines in nursing. She began as a Labor and Delivery Nurse shortly after graduation at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Typically specialty areas do not allow new nurses, but Charlotte was able to bring her experience with customer service and juggling "fifty things at once" to their department. Charlotte also worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a Labor and Delivery nurse. From the beginning of life to the end of life she uses Maslow's hierarchy to meet their needs.
She brought her values from “back home" with her. Her motto for hiring field staff is ... if I would not allow them in my home, I won't allow them in yours. She would rather not take a case than lower her standard. Our clients are not shifts or tasks they are people. We focus on the person we are caring for first and foremost.
"One of my great passions is to enable our clients to live independently, safely and with dignity in their homes"
I have been the community liaison for Comfort Keepers since September 2014. My main goal is to build strong relationships with prospective clients, and recruit new employees within our community. I am currently working on my bachelor’s degree in Finance at the University of South Florida. Sarasota is the city I have called home for the majority of my life. Professionally I am extremely passionate about effective communication. In my personal life I am an avid watersports fanatic, on my days off you can likely find me basking in nature.
