What’s the difference between home healthcare and home care?

Home healthcare is in-home care that is provided by a certified nurse. This type of care may include physical therapy, nursing care, or recovery care, and is generally used by clients who need specialized care for illnesses, injuries, or post-operative care. Home care is a general term for care that is provided to a client in their own home. Professional home care services can be non-medical or medical.

What senior care services do you offer?

Comfort Keepers provides comprehensive companionship care services, centered around building relationships between our caregivers and our clients. We can provide:

  • 24-hour professional home care, or services based on your schedule
  • In-home companionship services, designed to reduce senior isolation while assisting with daily needs like meal preparation, laundry, medication reminders, etc.
  • Personal care services including bathing, grooming, and toileting assistance
  • Respite care, which can help family caregivers take a break or enjoy time away from their responsibilities
  • Alzheimer’s and dementia care, specialized for clients who are experiencing cognitive diseases and their effects
  • End of life care, so that a caregiver can support your loved one and your family throughout the end of life process

How do you select your caregivers?

We carefully screen each potential caregiver and complete extensive background checks, reference checks, and more. All of our caregivers are licensed and bonded, and we provide additional professional training.

How much does home care cost?

Cost is dependent on the kind and frequency of services that are needed, so this answer is custom for each of our clients based on their care plan. Overall your costs will depend on the type of care you choose, how often you’ll need care, and if you will be covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or another form of insurance.

When are your services available?

We can provide professional home care around the clock or a few hours a week, based on your needs and preferences. You can choose the frequency of care services, and we’ll work with you to honor your scheduling needs.

Do you provide personalized care plans for each client?

Absolutely. We believe that all of our clients are unique, and deserve unique care. During an in-home consultation, we’ll work with you to develop the right plan, schedule, and care features based on your needs.

Will my loved one have the same caregiver all the time?

We’ll recommend a caregiver based on experience, specialties, and personality traits. You’ll have the opportunity to interview that individual, and if you decide they’re a good match, they are usually available to begin working with your family within a few business days.

What happens if our regular caregiver is sick or on vacation?

Our client care coordinator will alert you to any changes in your caregiver’s availability well in advance. We arrange for a temporary caregiver to fill in, who will be fully trained on your care plan, needs, and preferences.
