Senior Home Care Services Provide Support For Family Members

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Westlake, Ohio.

Senior Home Care Services Provide Support for Family Members

As a senior loved one ages, family members, friends and neighbors often join forces to provide the senior with the care, attention and compassion required. However, many times, family caregivers need help too. Whether the family support system is spread out over long distances and not centrally located, or if work schedules do not permit family members to be with seniors during the day, or if family caregivers simply need a helping hand or personal time, Comfort Keepers® senior home care services are available to assist in these very situations.

An increasing number of seniors choose to live within their own homes rather than in a nursing home and therefore choose to utilize senior home care services. This is a great option not only for the independent senior but for the family members of the senior as well.

Comfort Keepers provides senior home care services for as many or as few hours are desired. Caregivers will assist seniors with everyday tasks such as administering medications, transportation to and from doctors' appointments, grocery stores and other destinations, housekeeping duties, meal preparation, personal care, companionship and more.

However, these senior home care services also serve to assist family members who wish to remain the primary caregivers to the senior, yet require additional help. Comfort Keepers associates can assist on a full-time to a part-time basis, or simply sporadically as needed, in the event that family members must go out of town, attend meetings, or perhaps need some personal time that requires the family member to be away from the senior for a period of time.

Studies show that caregivers who make personal time for themselves to participate in fun, social activities, exercise, travel, or take any other form of stress-relieving alone-time are happier, more well-balanced and in turn better-equipped to care for their senior loved ones. Just as seniors benefit greatly from companionship, activity and stress-relieving activities, so do caregivers. Caring for senior loved ones is difficult for any family member, no matter how strong or dedicated they may be. Caregivers need not feel guilty for taking this time for themselves, as senior home care services are available to share the responsibilities.
