National Day of Joy

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Scarborough, Maine.

Comfort Keepers Introduces the National Day of Joy in Scarborough, ME

Join Comfort Keepers in celebration of the National Day of Joy

In 2019, Comfort Keepers, providers of superior care at home for seniors, proudly became a sponsor of the National Day of Joy. This is a day intended to celebrate the pure joy of being alive. Far too often, we become so involved in the stress of our daily lives that we fail to find the joy present in everything we do. Being able to find joy in your world is vital to good physical, emotional, and mental health for the seniors in our care at home program or simply living in the Scarborough area.

When We Feel Joy

When we allow ourselves to feel joy, it warms our hearts, relieves stress, and puts a smile on our faces. They say laughter is the best medicine, and recent studies by the Mayo Clinic concur with this thought. Their research found that laughter increases the amount of oxygen we breathe in and increase your heart rate. When you laugh, your body produces more endorphins that help relieve tension and puts a big dent in your stress levels.

There are so many benefits to letting yourself feel joy every day, including boosting your immune system as the effects of joy sweep through your brain, relieving stress. As your stress levels decrease, your anxiety goes down with taking away feelings of depression and replacing them with feelings of happiness and joy! The caregivers who provide our care at home services are chosen for their ability to spread joy with everything they do for those in their care.

Survey Says

During the inaugural Day of Joy, Comfort Keepers conducted a survey. The questions were simple, what brings you the most joy. After the results were tabulated, we found those with the highest levels of joy were in the over 60 crowd. Those in the 18 to 29 bracket exhibited the lowest levels of joy, leaving the 45 to 60 group somewhere in the middle.

The National Day of Joy included special events in numerous locations across the country with complete media coverage on television, radio, and in newspapers and magazines. News and information about these events were shared thousands of times on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to name a few of the more popular sites.

We Believe

At Comfort Keepers, we believe that spreading joy is the best way to help improve our clients' overall quality of life and as such it is an essential part of our care at home services for seniors. From the youngest to the oldest, our clients all have simple base needs. They need to feel loved and connected with their family and friends. They want their lives to have purpose and meaning. But, most of all, they need to feel a strong sense of hope.

According to careful research by Comfort Keepers care at home services for the elderly, we have found that the more joy seniors find in their lives, the more relaxed their adult children tend to be knowing their parents are healthy and happy. The goal of the National Day of Joy is simple, to encourage people of all ages to participate in simple acts of joy like spending time with loved ones, going for walks, hanging out with friends, and having ice cream in the park.
