Dr. Aronica created epinutrition, Stanford's first program in nutritional epigenetics, and the world's first Clinical Epinutrition Certification for healthcare professionals.
Drawing on Stanford research featured in the Netflix documentary “You Are What You Eat,” this session introduces epinutrition — the emerging science of how specific food compounds signal the epigenome to influence biological aging. Attendees will leave with an evidence-based framework for discussing nutrition's role in gene expression with clients and families. Learning objectives are as follows:
- Differentiate epinutrition from conventional nutrition advice by explaining how epigenetic marks — the molecular switches on our DNA — allow food to directly influence gene expression, independent of genetic sequence.
- Identify specific food-based epinutrients that support healthy gene expression, along with concrete, daily-life strategies clients can implement.
- Apply epigenetically informed communication techniques to reframe conversations with clients and families from genetic fatalism toward genetic empowerment.
