The Ventura location of Comfort Keepers In Home Care has been run by the family of Ellen and Andy Smith, along with their dedicated staff, since 2002. . This work is a labor of love for Ellen and Andy, because their own mothers and fathers were their inspirations. Andy's father,with the help of loving caregivers, was able to stay at home until the end of his life, at the age of 104. Andy is sure that his mother would not have also lived to an old age if she hadn't had care giving help for her husband as he grew increasingly frail. Andy's mother needed seniorcare help for the last several years of her life, too.
Ellen believes that her beloved mom's care givers saved her life more than a few times! She lived until 96 years old, and caregivers helped her for the last 10 years of her life.
Ellen and Andy are passionate and driven to make sure that they and their staff treat the elderly the way their own elderly parents were treated. So they and their staff provide Ventura home care with the utmost dignity and respect. They are committed to providing the highest quality elder care services to their clients.

Ellen Smith, M.A., LMFT, Co-Owner of Comfort Keepers is the Client Care Manager. She has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin. Ellen is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. For Comfort Keepers, Ellen oversees all client homecare, has done over a thousand assessments in people’s homes, continuously solves problems, and has helped families deal with issues of aging since 2002. Ellen was the Patient Educator at a cancer clinic for 10 years, and following that career, was a therapist in private practice for 10 years. She has overseen all client care for Comfort Keepers for over 17 years.
Andy Smith, M.S., Co-Owner of Comfort Keepers, is the Business Manager. He has Bachelors and Masters Degrees from a major university in Los Angeles. He ran his own executive search business for 16 years, and has been hiring, or consulting to the hiring process for over 39 years. Andy oversees an extensive and rigorous hiring methodology, to make sure that they hire only the women and men on their Most Valuable Caregiver team that are the “gems” of the homecare caregiving world. One of Andy’s main goals is to raise the ethical standards of the senior care industry, in order to improve Ventura eldercare and Ventura in home health care.
