In-Home Care

Each Comfort Keepers ® office- including ours in Pittsburgh- has a wide variety of in-home care, like companionship and personal care, to help older people stay at home and live independently. This way, they can get the right help for independent living at home. The best way to learn about our services is to call us right now at (412) 203-5217.

Personal Care Services

Bathing, Grooming, and Hygiene

We can help older people feel good about their looks by giving them help with bathing, grooming, and hygiene. Bathing not only cleans the skin but also refreshes the spirit, relaxes the soul, and improves circulation. Our caregivers who work at home are trained to ensure that no one is embarrassed when we help them in the bathroom.

Mobility Assistance

Mobility aid helps older people stay as active as possible, taking into account their age, abilities, and overall health. Keeping the senior moving has many physical benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, improving digestion and sleep, increasing energy and stamina, and strengthening the heart, but there are also many other benefits. Our agency can also go for a short walk with the client around their Pittsburgh neighborhood and encourage and remind them to do the exercises they've been suggested by their doctor.

Transferring and Positioning

People who serve as our home health assistants are trained to move and put people in the right postures to keep them healthy and safe. Properly getting in and out of beds and chairs doesn't put pressure on the skin, weakens and stiffens muscles, and helps people breathe, digest, and urinate properly.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

We try to keep the dignity and self-esteem of our elderly and other adult clients high as we help them with everyday tasks like getting dressed and getting ready for bed. Through this kind of in-home care treatment, we try to lessen the embarrassment that some people feel about having incontinence and needing help with the bathroom.

In-Home Companionship

Feeding and Special Diet

Some clients need help feeding themselves, and it can be hard to let go of being able to eat on your own. People who work for us know this and make extra efforts to make mealtime a more pleasant for everyone. In addition, we will help their clients stay on prescribed diets to prevent or treat a wide range of illnesses, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes, as well as other illnesses.

In-Home Companionship

Conversation and Companionship

Our care aides show their clients they are important to them by talking to them or having a meal with them. Social interaction like this has been shown to improve the health, happiness, and quality of life of people who are elderly. Besides, it's our way of caring for our friends and neighbors in Pittsburgh.

Meal Preparation

Many older people can't go shopping for food and make a healthy meal. We can make hot, tasty, healthy meals for their clients based on what they want. This will help them get the nutrition they need. Clients can even help with meal preparation as long as their abilities allow.

Laundry

Our care aides will wash, dry, fold, iron, and put away clothes either at their clients' homes or do the work at a laundry service. We try to ensure that each customer's laundry is done the way he or she wants.

Light Housekeeping

Our light housekeeping in-home care services cover most domestic tasks. Often, seniors are able and want to join their care providers in housework, which can help them feel useful and needed. These tasks include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchensPlease be advised we do not provide outdoor cleaning or maintenance services.

Grocery Shopping/Errands

Caregivers will shop for groceries at the stores their clients prefer and run errands such as picking up prescriptions or going to the post office. Clients may choose to stay home or come along and help with the shopping and errands as an excellent way to stay active and engaged. Your care provider will use any coupons provided.

Incidental Transportation

Our care agents can provide incidental transportation for clients, allowing them the freedom to go shopping and attend other activities or get to medical appointments, the barbershop or beauty salon, and other places the senior chooses.  Getting a senior out and about is good for the senior’s mind, body, and spirit.

Medication Reminders

Our care aides can help ensure that clients take their medications as prescribed. They can assist with opening medication containers, reading labels, and reminding their clients when to take a dose. If a client needs additional medication assistance, such as administering or setting up in a pillbox, we can provide a registered nurse or refer to an outside nursing agency.

24-Hour Care

Depending on the client’s needs, we can provide in-home or full-time care services for a few hours a week.  Through our 24 hour home care service, a team coordinates caregiving responsibilities in shifts.  This offers clients and their families full-time peace of mind. Call (412) 203-5217.
