What Is the Comfort Keepers Mission?
Our mission is to enrich the lives of our clients while supporting their safety, comfort, well-being, and independence at home.
We understand how difficult it can be when a parent, spouse, or other loved one begins needing additional help. Families may be balancing work, children, distance, and their own health while trying to make the right decisions for someone they love.
Our goal is to reduce that stress by providing dependable, compassionate care and clear communication. Every client deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, patience, and kindness.
What Makes Comfort Keepers Different?
Our approach to senior care is called Interactive Caregiving™. It focuses on doing things with clients, rather than simply doing everything for them.
Whenever it is safe and appropriate, caregivers encourage clients to participate in their care and daily routines. That may mean helping prepare a favorite meal, folding laundry together, taking a walk, looking through family photographs, working on a hobby, or staying connected with friends and relatives.
Interactive Caregiving supports the whole person by focusing on:
- Physical safety and well-being
- Independence and personal choice
- Emotional health
- Social connection
- Meaningful activity
- A sense of purpose and belonging
Our goal is not only to help older adults remain at home. We also want them to continue experiencing connection, purpose, and moments of joy.
How Does Comfort Keepers Create a Care Plan?
The process begins with a conversation and a complimentary in-home care assessment. A Client Care Coordinator meets with the client and family to learn about the person’s needs, routines, preferences, concerns, and living environment.
The assessment may cover:
- Personal care and mobility needs
- Meal preparation and household assistance
- Memory loss or dementia-related concerns
- Fall risks and home safety
- Transportation needs
- Family caregiver responsibilities
- Preferred schedules and routines
- Personality and caregiver compatibility
- Changes following an illness, hospitalization, or rehabilitation stay
The information gathered during the assessment is used to recommend a personalized care plan. The plan can be updated when the client’s condition or circumstances change.
Who Provides the Care?
Our caregivers—the special people we call Comfort Keepers—are carefully selected, screened, and trained to provide professional and compassionate assistance.
Caregivers are matched with clients based on the care required, scheduling needs, personality, interests, and other relevant considerations. They work from an established care plan while also getting to know the individual as a person.
Depending on the care plan, a caregiver may help with personal care, companionship, meals, transportation, household tasks, mobility, respite care, dementia support, and other activities of daily living.
Can Comfort Keepers Help Someone With Dementia Remain at Home?
Yes. Comfort Keepers provides in-home care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
A familiar home environment can provide reassurance and continuity for someone experiencing memory loss. Our caregivers can assist with personal care, meals, daily routines, mobility, companionship, medication reminders, and activities appropriate to the client’s interests and abilities.
Care plans are personalized because dementia affects every person differently. We also communicate with family members and other members of the client’s care team, as appropriate, to help support consistency and safety.
Can Comfort Keepers Give Family Caregivers a Break?
Yes. Respite care allows a family caregiver to step away temporarily while a trained caregiver assists their loved one at home.
Respite care may be scheduled so a family caregiver can work, attend appointments, spend time with other family members, rest, or manage other responsibilities. Care can be arranged regularly or during periods when additional help is needed.
How Did Comfort Keepers Begin?
Comfort Keepers began in 1998 after a registered nurse recognized that many older adults needed more than medical care. They also needed assistance with everyday tasks, companionship, and opportunities to remain involved in their own lives.
That idea developed into an international network of independently owned and operated Comfort Keepers offices. Each local office combines the resources and care philosophy of an established home care organization with the personal relationships and local knowledge of a community-based team.
Our Minnesota organization has served area families since 2007 and now has offices in Anoka, White Bear Lake, and Chisago City.
How Do I Arrange In-Home Care in Chisago City?
Choosing home care is an important and personal decision. You do not need to know exactly what type of care your loved one needs before contacting us.
Our local team can answer your questions, discuss the challenges your family is facing, explain available services, and help determine whether in-home care may be appropriate.
