Village of Wheeling
Incorporated in 1894, Wheeling began as an overnight stop for travelers from Chicago who were headed to the Wisconsin Territory via the overland trail now known as Milwaukee Avenue. Farmers took advantage of the area's fertile soil and growing overland transportation network and began to export crops. Railroad workers contributed to the village’s growth by patronizing its saloons. In 1917, the Knights of Columbus built the Columbian Country Club (later called Chevy Chase). The club and 18-hole golf course changed ownership in the 1930s and became a gambling establishment. After World War II, Wheeling emerged as a center for industry and commerce (complete with its own small airport), which increased its residential growth as well. Today, the road that was once dotted with small inns and taverns in the 1830s has become renowned as Wheeling’s Restaurant Row. Comfort Keepers has been serving seniors and families in Wheeling since 2000.
Sometimes a little help means a lot.
Comfort Keepers provides industry-leading home care services that allow seniors in Des Plaines to continue living independently – and safely – in their own homes. For the Comfort Keepers team, our work is personal: we care for your loved one as if they were a member of our own family.
The first step in starting a relationship with Comfort Keepers Des Plaines is simple, but it is the key to our overall success. Our experienced home care professionals will meet with you and your loved ones to assess the senior’s medical condition, living environment and personal preferences. This allows for the creation of a comprehensive plan of service, tailored to a client’s individual needs. During this meeting, we can discuss options such as:
- Personal Care
- Companion Care
- Interactive Caregiving
- Respite Care
- Transitioning/Post-Surgical Care
- Alzheimer’s Care and Dementia Care
- End-of-Life Care
Comfort Keepers Des Plaines also works in partnership with Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Avantara Rehab, Brookdale Des Plaines Independent Living, Margolis Weldon Elder Law and Seasons Hospice to better serve our clients and families.
