Protecting your Senior Loved One from COVID-19

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Portland, Oregon.

Protecting your Senior Loved One from COVID-19

How do you know that the person taking care of your mom or dad is as safe to provide care during these challenging times?

What does “safe” caregiving during a global pandemic even look like?

Safe care is in-home care -- it is ONE on ONE care.

Comfort Keepers has enacted safety protocols consistent with CDC, State, and Local recommendations for COVID-19 screening for health care workers.

We also adhere to all government recommended COVID-19 return to work policies.

Our goal is to provide your loved one with safe, effective care for their condition.

Here are some important facts about the service we provide:

  • Comfort Keepers are assigned to one or two clients per week, not multiple clients each day.
  • Comfort Keepers must answer screening questions before every shift- checking for symptoms and exposure, so they are safe to work with your loved one.
  • Comfort Keepers have had additional training in maintaining a safe, infection free environment since the onset of COVID-19 to keep their skills sharp and awareness high.
  • Our Agency has developed a strict COVID-19 policy, which includes use of PPE’s, masks, hand-washing, and other measures to protect your loved one, and themselves.  Everyone stays healthy that way!
  • Comfort Keepers who have any symptoms of illness do not return to work until they are symptom free and have been under self-quarantine as per CDC recommendations and guidelines.

The Risks of Choosing Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

Facility care, including residences and assisted living facilities, nursing homes, etc. substantially increase the risk of exposure to COVID-19. This is due to the sheer number of employees, vendors, and other people who come in and out of the building. It’s also more dangerous as each caregiver cares for multiple residents each day.

The Safest Route for Senior Care

While we are all living in a challenging time with no guarantees, in-home care provides a significantly safer and workable solution. Daily visits by a caregiver may be enough to provide the additional help needed, and reduce exposure overall.

Choosing an In-Home Senior Care Provider

As a company with a national standing in the in-home care industry, Comfort Keepers practices the highest standards of care. We are fortunate to have the benefits of additional support and guidance during this pandemic.

Until a vaccine is found, you can get your loved one the care they need in the safest way possible by using a Comfort Keepers, and help them survive and thrive in their own home.
