Comfort Keepers Supports Durango’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s
A huge thank-you to Jessica Martin for proudly representing Comfort Keepers at Saturday’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Durango. Jessica joined the Cottonwood team to walk in solidarity with families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and to help raise awareness for the cause. 💜
This year’s event was the largest yet in Durango, with more than 250 participants walking the Animas River Trail and raising over $32,000 to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Before the walk began at Rotary Park, community leaders and advocates—including former Rep. Barbara McLachlan and Alzheimer’s Association Colorado VP Valerie Lombardi—spoke about the urgent need for continued research, support, and advocacy.
The Walk’s signature Promise Garden ceremony gave participants a chance to carry color-coded flowers symbolizing their personal connections to Alzheimer’s: purple to honor those lost, yellow for caregivers, blue for those living with Alzheimer’s, and orange for general supporters.
While Comfort Keepers was represented by a single walker this year, Jessica’s presence carried the spirit of our entire team. We are grateful to the Alzheimer’s Association for their dedication, and to the Cottonwood team for welcoming us into their group.
At Comfort Keepers, we know the fight against Alzheimer’s is both personal and community-wide. We are committed to helping seniors and their families face challenges with compassion, dignity, and support.
