About Harbor City
The Los Angeles County city of Harbor City is home to some 36,000 residents and spans over two square miles of land. This city is highly diversified and has a diversity index of 0.674. Harbor City was originally a part of the Rancho San Pedro land grant that came from the Spanish. The city was once a home to a tribe of Native Americans called the Tongva who lived in the area until it was sold in 1542. The land was purchased by Juan Cabrillo, who was the first Portuguese explorer to discover the area.
Today, Harbor City is now surrounded by many large cities in the South Bay. To the north is Harbor Gateway, to the south is Wilmington and San Pedro, to the east is Carson and to the west is Torrance. The city is home to many medical buildings that support the town's economy. One of the many buildings is Kaiser Permanente that is located along the coast in the city.
