Provide Support During the COVID-19 Pandemic for the Seniors in Your Life
Consider ways to help the elders in your family and your community with tips from Comfort Keepers.
Amidst the Coronavirus crisis, we’re all trying to stay home and practice social distancing, and it’s an important time to consider the needs of the seniors in your life and your community. Being isolated and feeling lonely can negatively affect a person’s mental and physical health. By fostering connections and instilling hope and purpose, we can all help support seniors during this time.
Here are a few simple ways you can help the seniors in your life.
- Ensure their basic needs are met. Go grocery shopping, run errands and pick up prescriptions for them, so they can stay home and stay safe.
- Stay in touch virtually. Video calls, FaceTimes, texts — all are simple ways to connect with your loved ones at a distance.
- Go for a walk. It’s important for seniors to stay moving and remain active. Invite your senior neighbor or your loved one for a walk around the neighborhood — at a safe six-foot distance.
- Help with housekeeping. Mow someone’s lawn, plant flowers or help with laundry and other spring cleaning tasks.
