A new event through the Center for Life & Learning
of the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago
Comfort Keepers was a sponsor for the Destigmatizing Dementia panel discussion at the Fourth Presbyterian Church on September 9, 2026. We had a turnout of more than 150 people for this free event, which featured Lizzy Care and the GUIDE program, and a booth staffed by our Comfort Keepers team members.
In response to this enthusiastic response from the community, a second session has been scheduled! This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Destigmatizing Dementia Revisited
Presented by Skyline Village Chicago and the Center for Life and Learning
Wednesday, October 28, 2026, 1:30-3:30pm
The Genevieve and Wayne Gratz Center at Fourth Presbyterian Church
126 E. Chestnut Street, Chicago, IL 60611
Join us in our continuing effort to promote a respectful, supportive, and engaging dementia friendly neighborhood. Learn about available resources to support people with dementia, care partners, friends and families. We each have an important role, some major, some minor. Let’s get together and learn from one another.
The program will include:
· A review by the Skyline Village Chicago Team of the newly-published Streeterville/Gold Coast Dementia Resource Guide. Access the Guide on the Skyline Village website: (Streeterville/Gold Coast Dementia Resource Guide - Skyline Village Chicago).
· A presentation on how to support people with dementia by Dementia Friends coach Susan Frick, social worker at Rush Hospital. Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. Through this presentation, you will realize how you can make a difference in your daily life for people touched by dementia. Susan Frick LMSW, has coordinated dementia specific training programs at the Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center for health care professionals and helps coordinate the Dementia Friendly and Dementia Friends initiatives in Illinois.
This program is a collaboration between the Center for Life & Learning and Skyline Village Chicago. This program will be presented both in-person and through Zoom.
