History
As part of the historic township of Doylestown, Fountainville has a rich history. Its origins date back to the early 18th century. It has been part of various historic advancements, such as the construction and completion of the North Pennsylvania Railroad, connecting it to the rest of Pennsylvania.
The Fountain House stands as a symbol of the town and township’s status as a center of commerce since the 18th century. The house was one of seven pre-revolutionary taverns in Doylestown, but it was owned by a loyalist then seized by government authorities after the war. It housed everything from a tavern, to a post office, to currently a Starbucks.
Things to do in Fountainville
Though small, Fountainville boasts destinations and activities for people of all ages! Some include:
- Bird watching or hiking in Peace Valley Park. The park also offers unique communal events like plant sales and moonlight walks!
- Get a bite to eat at Altomonte’s Italian Market. It’s been the best delicatessen in the entire county for forty years! How could you not?
