Personal Care Services
Bathing, Grooming, and Hygiene
Our compassionate in home care can help seniors feel positive about their appearance through bathing, grooming, and hygiene assistance. Bathing not only maintains the senior’s hygiene but goes deeper to refresh the spirit, provide relaxation, and stimulate circulation. This can be an important aspect of a senior’s health. Our care providers are trained to lessen any embarrassment or discomfort that a senior may have with personal care services.
Mobility assistance helps seniors maintain as active a lifestyle as possible when considering their ages, abilities, and overall health. Lowering blood pressure, improving digestion and sleep, increasing energy and stamina, and strengthening of the heart are only some of the physical health benefits of keeping a senior mobile. As part of our senior care, we can work with a health care provider to determine the proper amount of mobility that is right for each senior and can also accompany the client on a short walk, and provide encouragement and reminders to complete prescribed exercises.
Transferring and Positioning
Comfort Keepers in home care providers are trained to move and place clients in the correct posture positions to promote health and safety. We understand that proper transferring and positioning from or into beds and chairs can improve a senior’s health. With the proper care and positioning, it eliminates pressure areas on the skin, reduces weakening and stiffening of muscles, and encourages proper breathing, digestion and elimination.
Toileting and Incontinence Care
We understand that seniors like to maintain their independence, especially when it comes to toileting care. For a senior to admit they need toileting care can be one of the hardest things to do, especially if they want to avoid going into a nursing home and remain in their home. Our care providers can offer the care they need at home while working to maintain the dignity and self-esteem of seniors and other adult clients as they assist with daily living activities. Through this caring approach, our aides help lessen the embarrassment clients may feel associated with incontinence and the need for toileting assistance.
Feeding and Special Diet
Some clients need help feeding themselves, and the loss of independent eating can be hard to accept. Our Comfort Keepers understand this and are particularly sensitive, making the extra effort that can turn mealtime into a more enjoyable social time. We can provide seniors with delicious and nutritious meals that they will enjoy eating. In addition, we will help ensure that their clients stay on prescribed diets to prevent or control a wide variety of medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
Conversation and Companionship
Our in home care providers offer companionship to clients. These companion care services can include conversation with a senior or sitting down to share a meal. Social contact, even something as simple as a quiet chat, is proven to enhance seniors’ health, happiness, and quality of life.
Many seniors do not have the ability to shop for groceries and fix a well-balanced meal, which is an important part of a senior’s independence. We can prepare hot, delicious, nutritious meals based on their clients’ preferences to help them get the proper nutrition they need. Clients may help their caregiver with meal preparation as their abilities permit.
Our Comfort Keepers in home care services will tend to the laundry either at their clients’ homes or a laundry facility, and will wash, dry, fold, iron, and put clothing away. We work to ensure that each client’s laundry is done according to his or her preferences.
Our light housekeeping services cover most domestic tasks. Often seniors are able and want to join their care aides in housework, which can help them feel useful and needed. These tasks include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. Please be advised that our services do not include outdoor cleaning or maintenanceGrocery Shopping/Errands
Our in home care services include grocery shopping and running errands that seniors need done. We will shop at the stores our clients prefer and run errands such as picking up prescriptions or going to the post office. Clients may choose to stay home or come along and help with shopping and errands. Joining their care provider in errands is as an excellent way to stay active and engaged. We will use any coupons provided.
Our care providers can help with incidental, assisted transportation for clients. This allows seniors the freedom to go shopping and attend other activities or get to medical appointments, the barbershop or beauty salon, and other places the senior chooses. With our transportation services, a senior can go where they want when they want. Getting a senior out and about is good for the senior’s mind, body, and spirit.
We are proud to have teamed up with Sodexo to provide medical management systems that can help seniors keep track of their medications to ensure they are taking them and provides a way for seniors to keep track of their medications for doctor’s appointments. Although Comfort Keepers cannot administer medications, they can help ensure that clients take their own medications as prescribed. Our Comfort Keepers can assist with opening medication containers, reading labels, and reminding their clients when it is time to take a dose.
Depending on the client’s needs, we can provide care services for just a few hours a week or provide full-time, 24-hour care as well as temporary, respite care. Through our 24-hour senior care services, a team of Comfort Keepers coordinates caregiving responsibilities in shifts.
