We are able to respond on short notice. Please see our comprehensive list of services below to see how we could be a fit for you or your loved ones.

Personal Care Services

Personal care services include assistance with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and household duties essential to the client’s health and comfort. Specially trained caregivers (Certified Home Health Aides) are available to provide personal care services for your loved ones. These services are performed under the supervisor of our Register Nurse.

Bathing, Grooming and Hygiene

Our caregivers can help seniors look and feel positive about their appearance through bathing, grooming, and hygiene assistance. They can sponge bath, bed bath, tub bath, or help shower your loved one including shampooing and drying their hair. Bathing not only cleanses the skin, but goes deeper to refresh the spirit, provide relaxation, and stimulate circulation. If your loved one fears falling while bathing, or has physical or cognitive limitations that make bath-time difficult, our caregivers will always be there to help. We can assist with shaving (with an electric shaver), hair combing and other grooming needs. In addition, our caregivers can provide assistance with dental hygiene.

Mobility Assistance

Remaining active in your golden years is one of the best ways to maintain the quality of life. Our caregivers help seniors remain active by assisting them in getting from place to place in comfort and safety. There are many physical health benefits of keeping your loved one mobile, improving digestion and sleep, increasing energy and stamina, and strengthening the heart. Our caregivers can accompany your loved one on a short walk, and provide encouragement and reminders to complete prescribed exercises. In addition, activity improves mood, releases stress and increases mental alertness.

Transferring and Positioning

One of our top priorities is helping seniors move around their homes. This may include getting in and out of bed, chairs, and wheelchairs. Our caregivers are trained to move and place clients in the correct posture positions to promote health and safety. Proper transferring and positioning can contribute to reducing bedsore risks. This also helps reduce muscle atrophy, while encouraging proper breathing and digestion. It can also lower the risk of falls and injuries, as well as keep our clients as comfortable as possible.

Toileting and Incontinence

We compassionately and sensitively care for seniors and other adults, helping them maintain their dignity and self-esteem as they receive help with the activities of daily living. Through this caring approach, our skilled caregivers help lessen the embarrassment seniors may feel associated with incontinence and the need for toileting assistance.

Feeding and Special Diet

For a number of reasons, adults may need help feeding themselves. This loss of independence can be difficult to accept. Comfort Keepers understand this and make the extra effort to turn mealtime into an enjoyable social time. In addition, our senior in home care services also make certain that clients stay on prescribed diets to prevent or control a wide variety of medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Clients are encouraged to eat a well balanced diet that provides the energy needed for active living and nutrients for disease prevention, healing, and healthful living.

Companionship Care Services

Mobility Assistance

Our caregivers are available to provide seniors company and engage in conversation, or to sit down to share a meal together. Social contact such as this is proven to enhance seniors’ health, happiness, and quality of life. Through Interactive Caregiving™, we take everyday activities and transform them into opportunities to engage and enrich the lives of seniors physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Backed by years of research— seniors who stay actively engaged in life retain better cognitive function, remain in better physical condition, and live happily and independently longer.

Conversation and Companionship

Studies prove that seniors who stay social and engaged have a better quality of life. They also have a lower tendency to develop depression and general cognitive decline. Our caregivers provide friendly company, conversation, and mealtime companionship — a fantastic way to keep your loved one engaged and upbeat.

Meal Planning and Preparation

Daily tasks, like meal planning and preparation, can be a lot of work for seniors. Our caregivers step in and help in the kitchen when needed. Many seniors do not have the ability to shop for groceries and fix a well-balanced meal. Our caregivers can prepare hot, delicious, nutritious meals to meet nutritional and dietary needs. They will encourage your loved ones to participate with meal planning and preparation if their abilities permit it. This time spent working together is an excellent opportunity for social interaction and conversation.

Laundry & Linens

Our caregivers will tend to the laundry either at their clients’ home or a laundry facility, and will wash, dry, fold, iron, and put clothing away. They will involve and seek input from your loved one to keep them engaged and to make sure the laundry is done according to their preferences.

Light Housekeeping

Our caregivers are available to provide light housekeeping. Our services include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms (sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets), cleaning kitchens (sinks, appliances, counters, and taking out the trash), straightening all rooms, organizing closets and drawers, and cleaning any interior windows reachable without a ladder. Often seniors are able and want to join their caregivers in housework, which can help them feel useful and needed.

Grocery Shopping and Errands

Home care is an excellent way to make sure that seniors do not lose their independence, even when they lose the ability to drive. Our caregivers will shop for groceries at the stores their clients prefer and run errands such as picking up prescriptions or going to the post office. Your loved ones may choose to stay home or come along and help with the shopping and errands. This is an excellent way to stay active and engaged. Transportation services are available to assist in maintaining a senior's well-being, whether it be physical, emotional, social or otherwise.

Incidental Transportation

Being out and about benefits a senior’s mind, body, and spirit. It's an integral part of Comfort Keepers’ Interactive Caregiving™. For older adults unable to drive, our caregivers provide transportation incidental to other services, such as medical appointments, barbershops, beauty salons, and shopping. Just about anywhere your senior wants to go, our caregivers can help them get there.

Medication Reminders

Although our caregivers cannot administer medications due to New Jersey State law, they can help ensure that your loved ones take their own medication as prescribed. Our caregivers can assist with opening medication containers, reading labels and reminding the client when it is time to take a dose.

Grooming Guidance

As a person ages, grooming can sometimes present physical challenges. Our caregivers can assist clients with grooming tasks to enable them to feel good about their appearance.

Specialized Care Services

Each client has unique care needs. That is why we offer a full range of in-home services – to tailor care plans that provide our senior and other adult clients the right amount and types of help to support independent living at home. This practice of Interactive Caregiving™ can contribute to longer, healthier, more purposeful lives for seniors—a fact proven by many research studies that point to the health benefits of active living in later life. For maximum effectiveness, Comfort Keepers® tailors Interactive Caregiving™ to the personality and unique interests and abilities of each senior client. Interactive Caregiving™ may, for example, include walks in the neighborhood or dancing to music; working together on household chores; discussing current events or personal interests; reminiscing while viewing photo albums; working on hobbies, puzzles or crafts; and going shopping or to church, senior center or civic group activities.

Live-In Care

Comfort Keepers® live-in home care is a cost effective service to help keep your loved one in the comfort of home as long as possible. Live-in home care assures family members peace of mind, preventing gaps in coverage for individuals who may be at risk when unattended, such as those in need of Alzheimer's care or dementia care. Live-in home care is also available for those requiring full time assistance from post-hospital care, for those with a high risk of falls, bed bound clients, assistance with hospice support or simply for those who do not wish to live alone. In addition, Comfort Keepers® provides live-in home care in any facility such as independent living, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long-term care centers and retirement homes if the need should arise.

24-Hour Care

Depending on your loved ones needs, Comfort Keepers® can provide in-home care for just three hours per visit or provide full-time, 24/7 in-home care. Through our 24-hour in-home care, we coordinate caregiving responsibilities into shifts to provide consistent uninterrupted around-the-clock care. This offers seniors and their families’ full-time peace of mind. This type of continuous in-home care service is ideal for clients who are at risk when unattended, such as seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia related conditions.

Respite Care

Caregiving can be rewarding and often strengthens bonds within a family. At the same time, caregiving can be demanding amidst life’s other responsibilities. Family caregivers and those in their care can benefit from a little time off now and then. That is why Comfort Keepers® offers respite caregiving. This service can be scheduled as needed to provide family caregivers time to run errands, go shopping or get some much-needed rest.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care

We understand the difficulties that come with providing Alzheimer’s and dementia care for your loved one in their home. We understand that this can be both a physically and emotionally draining tasks for family members and we can help ease the burden. Our professionally trained staff can provide you with the specialized care that your loved one needs to cope with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Transitional Care

Upon returning home from the hospital, receiving the proper care and following doctor’s orders can be critical to the health and recovery of a loved one. Family members often become caregivers for their loved ones and take on the task of caring for them, but quickly discover they are ill-prepared or untrained to meet the physical and emotional challenges of this kind of care. Comfort Keepers® is here to help. We offer an array of home care services to ease the transition home.

Veterans Care

Veterans or surviving spouses of veterans in need of in-home care may qualify for benefits through the Veterans Administration. Comfort Keepers® is proud to serve those who have served our nation. We assist veterans and their spouses in the application process and provide in-home care services for approved participants in VA programs.

End-of-Life Care

When a family member is diagnosed with limited-life expectancy, he or she often has a strong desire to spend the final days in the comfort of their own home. However, providing end of life care can be emotionally challenging and physically exhausting for a family caregiver. We can help. Comfort Keepers® can support you and your loved one by working with a hospice agency or medical provider to fully meet the family’s end of life care needs. We will help care for your loved one and help around the house as well as provide the family with emotional and moral support through this difficult time.
