Personal Care Services
At Comfort Keepers of Central Illinois, we recognize that it isn’t just about the tasks we perform, it’s about making those tasks meaningful and empowering for our clients. So, no matter what we do, our goal is to engage our seniors and make them feel invigorated and dignified.
Think of how refreshing it is to be clean! We can help your loved one feel positive about their appearance through bathing, grooming, and hygiene assistance. Bathing will not only help cleanse the skin, but it will help bring a feeling of refreshment and relaxation. Our caregivers have been trained to lessen any embarrassment or discomfort your loved one may experience.
Comfort Keepers of Central Illinois works to help seniors stay as active as possible, considering their age, ability, and overall health. An active lifestyle is beneficial because it lowers blood pressure, improves digestion and sleep, increases energy and stamina, and strengthens the heart. We love going on short walks with our seniors, as well as encouraging them to do their prescribed daily exercises.
Correct posture and positioning in chairs or beds can eliminate pressure areas on the skin and reduce the weakening or stiffening of muscles. It also encourages proper breathing and digestion. Our caregivers are trained to move and place seniors incorrect postures and positions so your loved one is as comfortable as possible.
Toileting and Incontinence Care
At Comfort Keepers, we work to maintain the dignity and self-esteem of the seniors we assist. Our goal is to help lessen the embarrassment clients may feel associated with incontinence and need for toileting assistance.
Some seniors need help feeding themselves. Others need to stay on a strict diet. The loss of independence in eating can be hard to accept, which is why we go the extra mile to turn mealtime into more social time. Our in-home care services aim to engage your loved one in conversation, make memories with them, and revive their sense of purpose.
Spending time with a person really lets them know just how much they matter. At Comfort Keepers, we know how important it is to have someone to talk to. It can make a world of a difference.
Conversation and Companionship
Social interaction is one of the keys to keeping seniors healthy and happy and that’s why we incorporate it into all our in-home care services. Quality of life often correlates with the quality of relationships we maintain. That’s why Comfort Keepers foster positive connections with your loved one through conversation and sharing.
Many seniors no longer have the ability to shop for groceries and fix a well-balanced meal. Comfort Keepers nutrition centered in-home care services are targeted to help your loved one prepare delectable and nutritious meals based on their tastes, to help them get the proper nutrition they need. We even invite our seniors to get in on the process by having them help to prepare the meal, as their abilities permit. Our goal is to engage and empower our seniors at every opportunity.
What’s better than the scent of fresh laundry? We can tend to the laundry either at our clients’ homes or a laundry facility. We will wash, dry, fold, iron, and put clothing away. Comfort Keepers works to ensure that each client’s laundry is done according to their preferences.
Our light housekeeping in-home care services cover most domestic tasks. Often seniors are able and want to join us in housework, which helps them feel useful and needed. These tasks include vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens. Please be advised that Comfort Keepers does not provide outdoor cleaning or maintenance services
Comfort Keepers of Central Illinois can shop for groceries at any store our seniors prefer and use whatever coupons they like. We can run errands and pick up prescriptions and we’ll invite our clients to come along if they are feeling up to it. We’ve found that helping with shopping is an excellent way for our seniors to stay active and engaged.
Going out and about is good for a person’s mind, body, and spirit. That’s why our Comfort Keepers provide incidental transportation for our seniors. We want to give them the freedom to do things—going shopping, attending activities, making medical appointments, or even simply visiting the barbershop or beauty salon.
Although our Comfort Keepers cannot administer medications, they can help ensure that clients take their own medications as prescribed. Our Comfort Keepers can assist with opening medication containers, reading labels, and reminding their clients when it is time to take a dose of their medication.
Depending on our client’s needs, Comfort Keepers can provide care for just a few hours a week or provide full-time, in-home care. Through our 24-hour senior in-home care service, a team of Comfort Keepers coordinates caregiving responsibilities in shifts. This offers clients and their families full-time peace of mind.
