Holy Name Cathedral Interior (image courtesy of Wikimedia Commons)Comfort Keepers of Chicago is pleased to announce its newest partnership, this one with a local historic landmark: Holy Name Cathedral. Located at 730 N. Wabash Avenue, in the Streeterville neighborhood of the city, the cathedral is essentially a neighbor of ours -- specifically, to our office at 1 E. Superior Street.
If you are a parishioner, you will be able to see the familiar Comfort Keepers blue logo in the weekly church bulletin, a publication which is also available for online viewing. This type of support is part of our company's ongoing outreach efforts. Comfort Keepers is an active partner to many communities throughout the city and suburbs, whether we are sponsoring programs or hosting informational events for seniors and families.
However, it is through our partnership with Holy Name Cathedral, a much-loved architectural jewel, that we are also able to help preserve Chicago's rich history for all to enjoy. This building attracts visitors from all over the world -- and if you are ever in the vicinity of the Magnificent Mile, you can visit it in person.
Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago is the seat of the Archdiocese of Chicago, one of the largest Catholic dioceses in the United States. Dedicated on November 21, 1875, Holy Name Cathedral replaced the Cathedral of Saint Mary and the Church of the Holy Name, which were destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
Holy Name Cathedral was built in the Gothic revival architectural style while at the same time integrating motifs symbolic of the message of the modern church. The building features a 70-foot-high ceiling, a 210-foot spire, and has the capacity to seat 1,110 people.
