"Our situation was difficult for any care company to manage. We needed a caregiver 7 days a week for 4 - 5 hours a day, in-home for our 97-year-old mother. Few caregivers will work for so few hours per day. Therefore, last-minute caregiver cancellations happen often. While with another care company, often no substitute was found, and in three instances, we were not even informed by the company that there would be no coverage.
So, we switched to Comfort Keepers, and although they also faced continuing turnover of caregivers and unexpected cancellations, they always found a substitute and kept us informed of the changes. While both companies said it would be "rare" when a caregiver could not be found, Comfort Keepers managed to exceed that claim, as we were never without a caregiver. Also, Comfort Keepers installed a no-cost alert system that more dependably identified falls and help-needed situations than the highly rated fob/button system for which we paid a national company about $500 per year."
Of most special mention was caregiver Diana. She was a hard and very efficient worker. Caring, responsible, and concerned that the family was informed when complications arose. On the day prior to moving mother from her home to an assisted living facility, Diana literally did the packing and identification of clothing to be taken, and with keen insight, she selected other items that would be needed for the transition. She was simply wonderful. Her skill and kindness will not be forgotten.
