Bedside Pressure Mats and Motion Detectors
Special protection for those at risk of wandering
When a loved one is at risk of wandering, family members often worry around the clock. But there are alternatives to 24-hour home care. Comfort Keepers offers bedside pressure mats and motion detectors. These devices help increase the safety level for seniors, and can provide family members with peace of mind.
Knowing that your loved one is safe at home is a significant component of senior care, and especially dementia and Alzheimer’s care. When any pressure lands on the mat, the wireless bedside pressure mats (also known as bed alarms) trigger an alert in the home and send an emergency notification to the SafetyChoice® Centralized Monitoring Station responders. These mats are ideal when placed bedside or in other critical areas of the home. There, they can monitor the safety of seniors who are at risk of falling or wandering due to dementia.
Installed in a central area of the house, our infrared motion detectors signal the SafetyChoice Centralized Monitoring Station when activated and tripped. When activated, first the station will call the residence to verify that an intruder did not activate the alarm. If necessary, it will then call designated responders. When used to monitor the movement of seniors who may wander, the system can send alerts to the caregiver’s computer. If the alarm system is not reset, SafetyChoice Centralized Monitoring Station personnel will follow instructions established by the client or caregiver. Turning off power to the motion detector during the day is an option.
These added security features integrate with a selection of in-home Personal Emergency Response Systems offered by Comfort Keepers.
Home Safety Assessment
Comfort Keepers can provide an in-home assessment to evaluate your safety needs and recommend the right medical alert products. Comfort Keepers will visit the home, work with the family to determine the specific needs, and demonstrate how these home medical alert devices can help seniors stay safe and independent at home.
