As the commercial industry developed in the city, it encroached into the community. In 1967, the Historic Preservation Committee was founded to preserve historic communities downtown. That year, the 1st annual Historic Homes tour was incorporated to build pride in Oklahoma City’s historic homes.  You can still tour these homes today.
