It’s a New Day in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s — Aducanumab Approved

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Phoenix, Arizona.

For more than 6 million Americans, Alzheimer’s presents daily challenges for those living with the disease and their loved ones. Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved aducanumab (AduhelmTM) from Biogen, the first drug in nearly two decades created to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.  According to Alzheimer's Association, “This treatment, while not a cure, is pivotal and current progress in science is significant. We expect this will be the first of a number of treatments to come.”

The fight to end Alzheimer’s is as urgent as ever. As the leader in ending Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association won’t stop fighting until a day without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia becomes a reality with effective treatment options for diverse populations living in all stages of Alzheimer’s.

Better Health Outcomes Through Earlier Diagnosis and Treatment

Early detection in Alzheimer’s disease is important now more than ever with a treatment available. Early diagnosis has long demonstrated better health outcomes for individuals and their caregivers. If you or a loved one is experiencing memory changes, the Alzheimer’s Association strongly encourages speaking with a health care provider for a thorough evaluation, diagnosis and to discuss treatment options.
