Our Story
Comfort Keepers of Anniston and Gadsden was founded with a simple purpose: to help seniors live safely, independently, and with dignity in the comfort of their own homes.
For local owner Richard Goedde, the decision to enter senior care was deeply personal. His own experiences with family caregiving showed him how important dependable, compassionate help can be when an aging loved one begins to need more support.
Richard wanted to build a business that did more than provide a service. He wanted to create a local team families could trust during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives.
As a veteran, Richard also brought with him a strong commitment to service, responsibility, and helping others. Those values became part of the foundation of the local Comfort Keepers office and continue to guide the way the team serves seniors, veterans, and families throughout Anniston, Gadsden, and surrounding communities.
Today, Comfort Keepers of Anniston and Gadsden is proud to be starting its 25th year in business. That milestone represents nearly a quarter-century of serving local families, building relationships, supporting seniors, and helping people remain in the homes they love.
From the beginning, the goal has been to provide care that feels personal.
That means taking the time to understand each client, listening to families, matching caregivers thoughtfully, and being available when needs change. It also means recognizing that home care is about much more than helping with daily tasks. A good caregiver can provide companionship, encouragement, reassurance, and peace of mind for an entire family.
Over the years, Comfort Keepers has grown to provide a wide range of in-home care services, including personal care, companion care, respite care, dementia and Alzheimer’s support, hospital-to-home assistance, mobility support, transportation, and other daily living services.
The local office has also placed a strong emphasis on helping families who need care quickly. When staffing and care needs allow, Comfort Keepers may be able to arrange same-day care for families facing an unexpected hospital discharge, caregiver emergency, sudden change in condition, or other urgent situation.
Serving veterans is another important part of the local mission. Richard understands firsthand the importance of helping veterans navigate systems that can sometimes feel complicated. The Comfort Keepers team works to help veterans and their families better understand the process of seeking authorized in-home care through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
As we begin our 25th year of serving the community, our mission remains the same: provide dependable, compassionate care while treating every client with dignity, respect, and kindness.
For Richard and the local Comfort Keepers team, this is more than a business.
