How Comfort Keepers Can Help When Your Loved One is in Hospice Care
Our ultimate goal is to provide care and comfort to your loved one and to help families make the most of their limited time together. We help by providing:
- Bathing, dressing, and toileting assistance for your loved one.
- Light house cleaning.
- Laundry as needed.
- Food preparation and proper nutrition.
- Companionship to your loved one so you can get a much-needed break.
- Coordination with any hospice or medical personnel providing care to your loved one.
We can also continue to help after a loved one’s passing. Our end of life care team can help families deal with the loss and assist with tasks such as organizing personal items and moving belongings—or just simply being there to listen if family members need to talk and process their grief.
In addition to in-home care services Comfort Keepers offers to end of life patients, the medical alarm system is also available through our Springfield and King of Prussia PA location.
Traditionally the medical alarm system is used for an active individual who may have experienced falls or medical conditions his or her family are concerned may interfere with everyday life and require a quick response when a person cannot get to a phone to call for help.
Most family members are unaware that the medical alarm system can be used for an end of life patient. As long as the patient can push the button to call for help, the live responder will call family members or the hospice agency instead of calling 911 or emergency personnel.
The medical alarm system through Comfort Keepers is month-to-month billing. There is no long-term contract. Regardless of whether your loved one needs the equipment one month or 6 or longer, there is no penalty for cancellation.
In some instances hospice patients may be discharged from hospice services and families may decide to keep the equipment to continue to provide the access to help. As soon as Comfort Keepers is notified and the request is made, the medical alarm company will change the response directive from hospice to 911/medical emergency services.
