Uplifting Companion care and friendship in Franklin, Cullowhee, Sylva, and surrounding areas

We at Comfort Keepers® are well aware of the profound effects of socialization and companionship on the mental health and well-being of the elderly. Opportunities to interact with people and develop relationships with friends, family, neighbors, and community members can help alleviate depression symptoms, minimize elder isolation and loneliness, and potentially lower the risk of dementia.

Spending time with our caregivers provides your loved one with not only someone to help around the house or cook a meal but also a friend who provides social connection and a companion who may assist them in returning to the activities that bring them joy. What does companion care entail?

Companionship, also known as companion care, is a type of care that gives emotional support, camaraderie, and socializing. The following are examples of common companion care activities in the home:

  • Mental stimulation, such as playing games or listening to music and conversation
  • Preparing meals and spending time together over breakfast, lunch, or dinner
  • A light activity, such as walking or some time spent outside, is recommended.

  • Light housekeeping and laundry
  • Shopping for groceries and doing errands
  • Transportation to and from social events and appointments
  • Personal grooming and grooming reminders Medication reminders

We focus on activities that delight, give mental stimulation, and promote physical and emotional well-being at Comfort Keepers. Our caregivers communicate with clients' loved ones frequently to update them on their progress, answer questions, and check in by offering companion care.

An all-encompassing strategy

Our Interactive Caregiving philosophy places a premium on caring for the whole person. It's a holistic approach that considers the individual's mind, body, soul, and overall well-being. We use every minute to undertake jobs and activities with our loved ones, rather than just doing for them, to promote engagement and fulfillment. We can lift the emotions of our customers and their families by focusing on Interactive Caregiving.

How Can Comfort Keepers Assist You?

Our caregivers are qualified and knowledgeable in various long-term care services that assist senior mental health and home companionship. This includes the following:

Meal Preparation and Nutrition

Our caregivers can help with food shopping, meal preparation, and nutrition and diet regimens, which your doctor gives. Diet significantly impacts general well-being and reduces the risk of several common health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. Our caregivers can provide the assistance needed for healthful at-home meals, whether someone needs help following a special diet or wants some company in the kitchen. We want mealtime to be both nutritious and pleasurable.

Companionship and Conversation

According to studies, seniors who remain socially involved have a higher quality of life than their solitary peers. They also have a lower risk of depression and cognitive deterioration in general. Our caregivers provide seniors with a conversation, mealtime company, and fellowship during their favorite activities. Clients and caregivers can create long, meaningful relationships by completing chores together.

Light Housekeeping and Laundry

All laundry needs can be met by our caregivers, either at home or at a nearby laundromat. These services include washing, drying, ironing, and putting clean clothes away. Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms (sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets), cleaning kitchens (sinks, appliances, counters, and trash removal), straightening all rooms, organizing closets and drawers, and cleaning any interior windows reachable without a ladder are all examples of light housekeeping services.

Shopping for groceries and doing errands

Grocery shopping, medication pick-up, and other errands can be incorporated into a Comfort Keepers elder care plan to assist folks who prefer not to or are unable to, leave their house. Trust caregivers to assist with daily living.

Transportation

We provide transportation services to those who require assistance returning home after a hospital stay or a trip to and from essential appointments.

Transportation services are provided for seniors and the elderly to maintain independence, ensure freedom for appointments, and continue to improve outside the home with companionship.

Reminders for Medication

Medication reminders can help caregivers ensure that clients take their medications as prescribed. They can open pharmaceutical bottles, read care plans and prescription labels, and remind clients when their next dose is due.

Comfort Keepers creates personalized end-of-life care programs that address physical safety, emotional well-being, and sociability. Our mission is to assist our clients in achieving the highest possible quality of life while remaining independent at home.
