Village of Lincolnwood

Potawatomi Native Americans originally settled the wooded area now known as Lincolnwood, but then vacated the land after the Indian Boundary Treaty of 1816. After the area’s first business – the Halfway House Saloon – opened in 1873, the farming community blossomed. Transportation improved as well. When the Chicago & North Western Railway began serving nearby Skokie in 1891, the local population grew to 350. Prohibition brought more saloons and speakeasies to the area, by then called Tessville. However, with the election of Mayor Henry Proesel in 1931, and the implementation of a federal tree-planting program, life changed substantially. The name Lincolnwood was made official, and the community’s unemployed workforce got busy planting trees on the village streets. Transportation – this time in the form of the new Edens Expressway – brought more residents and light industry to Lincolnwood in the 1950s, helping the village evolve into the robust community it is today. Comfort Keepers has been serving seniors and families in Lincolnwood since 2000.

Sometimes a little help means a lot.

Comfort Keepers provides industry-leading home care services that allow seniors in the Lincolnwood community to continue living independently – and safely – in their own homes. For the Comfort Keepers team, our work is personal: we care for your loved one as if they were a member of our own family.

The first step in starting a relationship with Comfort Keepers in Lincolnwood is simple, but it is the key to our overall success. Our experienced home care professionals will meet with you and your loved ones to assess the senior’s medical condition, living environment and personal preferences. This allows for the creation of a comprehensive plan of service, tailored to a client’s individual needs. During this meeting, we can discuss options such as:

  • Personal Care
  • Companion Care
  • Interactive Caregiving
  • Respite Care
  • Transitioning/Post-Surgical Care
  • Alzheimer’s Care and Dementia Care
  • End-of-Life Care
