Wide Range of Senior Services Promotes Independence at Home

Comfort Keepers® provides non-medical, in-home companion and personal care services for seniors and other adults that require additional assistance with daily activities. Comfort Keepers service offerings are sometimes generalized under "home health care", even though our focus is non-medical. Comfort Keepers will partner with home health care agencies to ensure comprehensive care coverage for seniors who desire to remain independent, at home.

Home health care covers a broad range of services that seniors typically need to help them realize their desire to live independently in their own home.

Home health care providers tailor these services to meet each client's specific requirements for senior assistance--from a few hours a week to full-time, live-in care, as well as respite care to provide family caregivers time away. Here's a summary of these senior assistance services:

Home care aides engage in conversation and activities with clients, during meals, engaging in hobbies and taking walks, for example. This social contact promotes clients' health, happiness and quality of life.

Nutritional Services

In preparing meals, home care aides make certain that clients maintain a well-balanced diet that fuels the energy needed for active living and nutrients for disease prevention, healing and healthful living.  As needed, home care aides provide feeding assistance.

Light Housekeeping and Laundry

This includes vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, cleaning interior windows and straightening rooms. Laundry services - washing, drying and folding - may be done in the client's home or at the Laundromat.

Grocery Shopping/Errands

Home care aides often involve clients in these activities, as able, to encourage active living.

Medication Reminders

Home care aides are not authorized to administer medication, but they can offer reminders, assist in opening containers and read labels for clients.

Personal Care/Grooming Services

These types of senior services provided by home care aides enhance clients' health and self-esteem.

Mobility/Transferring Assistance

Home care aides help seniors get out and about and stay as active as possible to promote their physical health, mental alertness and emotional well-being. Home care aides also are trained to safely transfer clients in and out of bed and chairs and to position and reposition them to promote their well-being.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

In-home senior services may also include this type of assistance, helping clients maintain dignity and self-esteem at home.

Specialized Care

Specially trained home health care aides and senior assistance providers serve clients with specialized conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease. Technology solutions often supplement the services of aides to ensure that clients live safely and happily in their own home. End-of-life care is another special service, often provided by aides in partnership with hospice care agencies that oversee the medical needs of terminally ill clients.
