Comfort Keepers® Hosts Successful Food Drive and Silent Auction

Published: Mar 8, 2013

Comfort Keepers is proud to announce the accomplishments of The McKinney Comfort Keepers®, Dallas Comfort Keepers® and Frisco Comfort Keepers® on their recent successful food drive. This year they raised $8,600+ and over 8,000 pounds of food! For the first time, the Comfort Keepers® offices teamed up with The Denim and Diamonds Team of North Texas! Denim and Diamonds hosts an annual fund raiser where they have a silent auction and since Comfort Keepers® is known in the area for their wonderful food drive called Stop Senior Hunger, both groups thought it would be great to combine the two fundraisers together and maximize their territory coverage to grow the results for the cause.

The goal of this years event, Denim and Diamonds – Stop Senior Hunger, was to double what had been collected and raised in the past. All profits from the silent auction were donated to non-profit organizations that have a primary focus of Seniors. Food items were collected from September until Thanksgiving as well as at the silent auction event.

When choosing where the donations should go, owner of the McKinney Comfort Keepers®, Robert (Bob) Smolen decided the donations from his office would go to Meals on Wheels and Allen Community Outreach because they are most well known in the area and contribute greatly to the community’s needs.  The Dallas office selected where their donations would go based on the same principles of community involvement and improvement. The profits from the silent auction were split evenly between the food banks that received the food!

Congratulations to The McKinney, Dallas and Frisco Comfort Keepers® as well as Denim and Diamonds on an extremely successful event!
