Senior Home Care in Sumter, South Carolina
Comfort Keepers raises the bar for quality in-home care services. We strive to enhance the quality of life and independence of seniors, delivering a level of service that distinguishes our care from that provided by others, in two important ways:
- The compassionate caregivers we hire to serve as Comfort Keepers look upon caregiving as more than a job; it is their life’s calling, and they have a true heart for serving seniors.
- Our distinctive brand of caregiving, which we call Interactive Caregiving™, actively engages seniors in their own care, enriching their quality of life physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
Our Caregivers Truly Care
We are very particular in hiring our Comfort Keepers. Our first priority in the recruitment process is finding people who have a natural desire to serve seniors, help them maintain independence and make their lives more fulfilling. The key to our success is that we hire only caregivers we would feel comfortable caring for our own parents.
Our thorough screening process enables us to hire only the best people as Comfort Keepers. Before being hired, candidates must pass a number of background checks and personality testing to make sure they have the necessary qualities to be a Comfort Keeper.
And before serving clients, Comfort Keepers complete extensive training in everything from personal care to the special needs of persons with Alzheimer’s disease. They also complete an orientation in the Comfort Keepers brand and style of care. After beginning their service, they are tested at regular intervals to assure consistent practice of Comfort Keepers’ high standards of care.
Another special difference in Comfort Keepers care is that we make a special effort to match our caregivers and clients, based on their personality, experience, skills and needs. The attention we place on making good matches leads to more effective care.
Interactive Caregiving™
Comfort Keepers’ special brand of caregiving—Interactive Caregiving™—goes beyond the normal scope of in-home caregiving as our caregivers creatively blend routine personal and companionship caregiving with activities that actively engage seniors, physically, mentally, socially and emotionally.
Such activities may include walks; working together on mentally-stimulating puzzles; conversing and reminiscing; preparing a favorite recipe; going on outings to church, shopping or a senior center; visiting with friends; or partaking in a cherished hobby or pastime. It is all a matter of selecting activities that provide a senior enjoyment and enhance his or her quality of life and independence.
Partnering with Families
Comfort Keepers provides families the level of support and partnership they need to provide their loved ones as positive a caregiving experience as possible. We give families the freedom to be as involved in their loved one’s care as they desire and are able. For families who want to be greatly involved in caregiving, Comfort Keepers provides respite care. In such cases, Comfort Keepers give family caregivers time to get away for a vacation or just a little time off to rest and reenergize or take care of other responsibilities.
We know that sometimes distance and the demands of work and caring for children can make caring for an older loved one challenging. But even for families who are limited in the time they can personally devote to caregiving, we stay in close communication. We keep families updated on their loved one’s care and any changes we notice.
Comfort Keepers offers seniors and their families free in-home assessments to learn more about our services and determine whether they are the right solution for their needs. This assessment helps us develop a customized plan of care, which can be updated to address changing needs to support independence.
And to help meet our clients’ complete needs, Comfort Keepers has built and maintains a referral network of local South Carolina senior care and health care providers. This network includes home health care and hospice agencies, assisted living, nursing homes and hospitals.
