A Senior’s Wish, a program created in 2016 commemorating the 15-year anniversary of Comfort Keepers will grant a well-deserving senior the wish of a lifetime in 2018 for the third year in a row as part of our 20 year anniversary celebration! The program honors local, deserving seniors who have given so much of themselves to their friends, family and community.
Do you know of a worthy senior? Complete the online form and submit, or download and print this nomination form to help fulfill his or her Senior Wish! When completed, return via U.S. Mail to Comfort Keepers, 8000 Corporate Center Dr, Ste 109, Charlotte, NC 28226. Applications are being accepted from now until April 30, 2018.
Deadline to submit: April, 2018
Wish ideas might include: reconnecting loved ones, attending events or concerts, participating in a former hobby or passion that is now a challenge (ride in classic car, horseback riding), the purchase of a computer to connect virtually with family, installation of a wheelchair ramp, renewing wedding vows or maybe even help planting a garden. Note: Travel must be purpose-driven, with a dream achieved during or as a result of the trip.
To be eligible, the nominee must be a minimum age of 65, a resident of Cabarrus, Catawba, Davidson, Davie, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, or a contiguous county, unable to fulfill the wish on their own, and capable of experiencing the wish.
Finalists will be selected through a panel of judges formed by Comfort Keepers, based on adherence to age and residence requirements, integrity of the nominee, senior’s community involvement, impact that granting of the wish would have on the nominee, and the ability and practicality of administering the wish. Winners will then be selected by review of written entries and/or phone interviews.
Unfortunately, A Senior’s Wish is unable to grant every qualified wish we receive. The decision to grant a wish is at the sole discretion of A Senior’s Wish, and a wish may be denied for any reason.
The following wishes will not be considered:
- Medical care or services
- Legal services
- Vehicle (purchase, repair, modification)
- Potentially harmful or dangerous wishes
- Wishes on behalf of others under 65
- Assistance finding employment
- Wishes that extend beyond the life of the Wish Recipient (funeral arrangements, headstones, etc.)
- Continuous wishes (wishes for a pet, season tickets, etc.)
Winners will be announced in June, 2018.
