Let's Save!

Everyone likes saving money, right?! There are a number of retail stores, grocery stores, and restaurants that offer discounts to seniors. You can save money on everyday items right here in the coastal Carolinas!

One of the biggest ways you can save on groceries is by creating a list and sticking to it! Avoid the end-caps and those impulse purchases when you’re standing in line to check out. There are several local stores right here in Myrtle Beach, SC, that offer senior discounts.


Here's a few of our favorites:

1. Harris Teeter gives a 5% discount on Thursdays to those 60 and older. All you have to do is sign up for a free Club 60 membership and present your card when you shop.

2. Both Publix and Piggly Wiggly offer senior discounts on Wednesdays. Be sure to ask your cashier to apply the discount.

3. Although Lowe’s Foods no longer offers discounts at the national level, our local Lowe’s offers a 5% discount to seniors on Wednesdays.
   
   

In addition to grocery stores, several Myrtle Beach retailers offer senior discounts. Here’s a list of some we like:

1. Bealls Department stores offers 15% off to those 50 and older on Tuesdays.

2. Belk offers 15% off to those 50 and older on the first Tuesday of every month.

3. Kohl's offers 15% off to those 62 and older.

4. Ross offers 10% off on Wednesdays to those 55 and older.

5. TJ Maxx gives a 10% discount to those 55 and up on Mondays.
   
   

If you like to eat out, there are several restaurants and fast-food establishments that offer senior perks or discounts in the Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas. We like these:

1. Arby’s offers 10% plus a free drink (55+).

2. Bonefish Grill offers 10% to those with AARP memberships.

3. Burger King offers 10% to those 60 and older.

4. Dairy Queen offers 10% (55+).

5. Friendly’s offers 10% (55+),

6. KFC offers a free small drink to those 55 and older.

7. Outback Steakhouse offers 10% to those with AARP memberships.

8. Sonic offers 10% to those 60 and up.
