Salisbury North Carolina Comfort Keepers
Comfort Keepers® of Salisbury, North Carolina, is the leading provider of in-home care, in and around the communities of Salisbury, Lexington, Thomasville, Concord, and Mocksville, N.C. Since 2001 we have offered a total care solution for seniors and other adults who need help with the activities of daily living.
Through our home care services we enable clients to maintain the highest level of independence and quality of life where they most want to live—in their own homes.
Because every client’s and family’s needs are different, we create individualized care plans with just the right mix of services to support an optimal level of independent living. We can schedule our high quality caregivers—called Comfort Keepers®—for as little as one hour a week, to give family caregivers some time away, to full-time, 24-hour care.
Advantages of Choosing Comfort Keepers
- To assure our clients and families of the most qualified caregivers possible, we have developed the most comprehensive screening and training program in the in-home care industry. After an initial 15 hours of training our Comfort Keepers complete eight additional hours of training in the office, pass work under the supervision on a Registered Nurse, and complete continuing training to maintain their skills and quality of service.
- With Comfort Keepers you can be assured of consistent, quality service as our rate for caregiver retention exceeds the industry average.
- Around the clock we are here to answer your calls and questions—and to provide care whenever you need it.
- Clients and families depend on Comfort Keepers as a comprehensive in-home care solution. Through our Geriatric Care Management Services, select nursing services, Emergency Response Systems, and our partnership with other health and senior care providers (such as home health agencies, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes), we offer you a total care solution.
However, before you decide on an in-home care provider, we invite you to compare our services to those of other providers. We have created a convenient “20 Questions to Ask” brochure to help you in your decision.
Comfort Keepers’ Full Range of Services
We offer a complete menu of in-home care options, enabling us to create just the right mix of services to help each client maintain an independent lifestyle in the comfort of home. Families may choose to be directly involved in as much or as little of their loved one’s care as they wish. So, you may call on Comfort Keepers to provide as little as one hour of care a week to 24-hour coverage.
Our services include:
Companionship care, such as conversation, light housekeeping and laundry, meal preparation, errands, incidental transportation, help with grooming and dressing, medication reminders and standby assistance with bathing.
Personal care, such as hands-on assistance with bathing, shaving, hair care, preparation of special diet, toileting, transferring/ambulation, and skin care.
Certified Care for clients who need substantial help performing the activities of daily living. Certified care, under North Carolina law, is provided by Certified Nurse’s Aides. These aides have been trained and reviewed by a Registered Nurse, and work under an RN’s supervision.
Share the Care Program, which allows clients living in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing or naturally occurring retirement communities to purchase Comfort Keepers services in 15-minute increments—rather than the standard hourly increments—so long as others living at the facility also receive Comfort Keepers services.
Registered Nurse Consultations are provided quarterly at no additional charge, under North Carolina licensure requirements, to each client who receives any in-home service other than companion care. Comfort Keepers clients may elect to pay for additional RN consultation visits as needed.
Geriatric Care Management Services are provided by Salisbury Comfort Keepers owner Lori Eberly, who is a Professional Geriatric Care Manager. She is trained and qualified to help clients and families evaluate and plan for their senior care needs. These services, provided at a discount to Comfort Keepers clients, are available to the general public. They include care planning, future care needs, research, care recommendations, client safety assessments, recommended reference materials for families, and more.
SafetyChoice® is Comfort Keepers’ branded line of technology-based in-home care solutions that supplement and augment senior care services, helping clients live safely and independently at home when a Comfort Keeper or family caregiver isn’t present. These include:
- Personal Emergency Response System (PERS), a 24-hour medical alert device that is monitored by a central call center. A senior can summon help at the touch of a button on a pendant or wristband.
- PERS Accessories, also monitored by the central call center, include smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; motion detectors; wireless floor mats that monitor the movement of clients such as those at risk of falling or prone to wander due to dementia; and door and window contacts.
- Medication Coordination System, which uses audible alarms to remind a senior to take medications. The device also dispenses the drugs as prescribed and alerts caregivers when a dose is not taken.
- Personal Location Device uses GPS technology to help locate seniors who become lost away from home. The size of a cell phone, it can be securely carried. Fall Detector is a device that clips to a senior’s clothing to alert the central monitoring station when a senior falls.
Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care, provided by specially trained Comfort Keepers.
Post-Hospital Care and Support to help newly discharged patients recover at home following surgery, injury or illness.
Hospice Care to provide supportive, non-medical in-home care to clients who are under the care of a local hospice program.
Additional Services that can be provided on an as-needed basis, including bath visits, “tuck-in” service at night, “rise and shine” service in the morning, and sleepover and live-in services.
