You & Home Health Care

We offer in-home, non-medical care for seniors; our care options include personal care and/or companion services. Typically, we work with Home Health Care agencies that provide Medicare services.  We are considered a private duty Home Health service.

Home health care is an alternative to the type of care offered in nursing homes and hospitals and is typically more cost-effective than these options. With home health care, our clients keep as much independence as possible while receiving care that can increase wellness, quality of life and health.

In-home health care services can include medical and non-medical care. Medical care can be given by nurses and speech, occupational and physical therapists, among other health care professionals. Non-medical care can be provided by aides or professional caregivers. Often, non-medical and medical home care providers work together to achieve the goals of our clients.

Home health care clients are often:

  • Seniors who would like to stay in their own home and remain as independent as possible but require assistance with normal day-to-day activities like meal preparation or personal care.
  • Seniors who require temporary assistance in adapting to changes caused by a new diagnosis.
  • Seniors that have been recently discharged from the hospital and require short term nursing care or rehabilitation from their surgery or illness.
  • Seniors who require ongoing help with management of a chronic illness process like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or other Dementia’s.

When partnered with the client’s family, in home care services offered by a professional caregiver can enable a senior in maintaining a greater quality of life and stay independent longer. Some of these services include:

  • Helping clients manage medication
  • Taking clients to doctor’s appointments
  • Understanding nutritional needs as well as preparation of healthy meals
  • Providing mental stimulation and conversation
  • Encouraging exercise

Clients and their family members can be educated by their caregivers on how to handle these responsibilities themselves for the long term.  Professional caregivers can also be on hand anytime to offer respite care so that the client’s loved ones can take a break from the responsibilities of caregiving. Also, in-home care providers can offer technology solutions as an option. These solutions, including such items as monitoring devices and medication dispensors, ensure the safety of the client during times in between caregiver and family visits.

By providing opportunities for mental stimulation, physical activities, or social or emotional support, professional and family caregivers can make an impact on a loved one’s life. While a walk around the neighborhood, a conversation, making a favorite recipe, writing letters or visiting friends may not seem like health care, these activities have a positive impact on senior health.
