Frequently Asked Questions About Senior Home Care Services In Fort Worth, TX and Surrounding Areas

Learn more about our home care in Fort Worth, TX

What is home care and how does it differ from home healthcare?

While home care may refer to all types of medical and non-medical care, due to a shift in terminology in recent years, it is now typically used to describe non-medical care provided in one’s residence, whereas home healthcare typically refers to the provision of skilled nursing care such as physical or occupational therapy.

What kind of services does Comfort Keepers provide?

At Comfort Keepers, we provide a range of home care services consisting of light housekeeping, meal prep, transportation, personal care, companionship, and more. Our caregivers are trained to cater to more specialized needs and deliver dementia care, end-of-life care, transitional care, as well as respite care. We offer a selection of senior safety products and technology solutions too.

How are Comfort Keepers selected?

All our caregivers – dedicated professionals whom we like to call Comfort Keepers – are employees who were carefully selected and trained before joining our team. Each of them went through a series of rigorous background and reference checks. Moreover, each Comfort Keeper is bonded and covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance. For your full peace of mind, we only work with the very best caregivers – those who we would gladly choose to look after our own seniors.

How much does in-home care cost?

Every Comfort Keepers location is independently owned and operated. For a detailed list of rates, services, and products, its best to you contact the office serving your area.

Are services available 24 hours, 7 days a week?

Yes. Our visits can be scheduled for as little or as much as you wish, ranging from just a few hours per week to non-stop, 24/7 care.

Can you provide services on short notice?

Of course we can. We are well-familiar with situations where arising needs dictate swift care solutions and we are here to provide our home care services on an as-needed basis.

Do you provide services in nursing homes or assisted living communities?

We do. When clients desire additional attention and quality of care that surpasses that of the care offered in the institution they are placed in, we can step in and provide companionship and personal care in senior living facilities.

Is there a written plan of care for each client? Do these plans get modified and if so, how often?

When getting started with Comfort Keepers, our local office will tailor a confidential Plan of Care for your family, detailing the services and schedule and recommending a compatible caregiver for your parent. One we start providing home care, your care plan can be reviewed every six months, or more frequently if you so wish.

How will I meet my Comfort Keeper?

During the initial meeting, the client care coordinator will gather all important information about your loved one’s needs and preferences. This information will help them single out a caregiver from our roster who we believe is an ideal match for your parent. Once we find the right care provider, we will arrange an introduction.

What if my Comfort Keeper calls in sick or takes a vacation?

At times when your referred caregiver is unavailable, we can recommend an interim caregiver, whom you first get to meet and approve. Your client care coordinator will introduce the replacement and ensure there is no interruption to your home care plan.

What are ADLs and IADLs?

Activities of Daily Living or ADLs refer to eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, toileting, and similar tasks that are otherwise essential to everyday functioning.

IADLs, short for Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, are activities that may be less basic but are just as important to maintaining one’s quality of life. Typically, these include shopping, errands, paying utility bills, cooking, and homemaking tasks.
