Frequently Asked Questions about Living Assistance Services in West Chester, PA

Our team of caregivers in West Chester, Chadds Ford, and surrounding areas are here to help you learn about the living assistance services available to your loved one

What is home care and does it differ from home healthcare?

Home care refers to in-home living assistance services that are provided to a person in their home that is, essentially, of non-medical nature. Before home care would encompass all aspects, medical and non-medical, that would be provided to a patient. Now, however, the medical care that is given to patients in their homes is classified under home healthcare. Home care can be activities such as companionship and homemaking services and personalized care services, such as dressing and hygiene assistance. Home healthcare would encompass activities like skilled nursing and other therapeutic activities that would be provided by a medical professional in the senior’s home.

Does Comfort Keepers provide these sorts of services?

At Comfort Keepers, our staff of supportive caregivers can provide a vast array of living assistance services for your senior loved one such as meal preparation, housekeeping and transport help, shopping and errands assistance, as well as live-in and respite care. Our personalized care services include bathing and dressing assistance, grooming, mobility assistance, and toileting and feeding/diet help. Depending on which local office is in question, we also provide Dementia and Alzheimer’s care to those clients requiring it.

Is Comfort Keepers available 24 hours, 7 days a week?

We are available for minimal visits as well as full 24 hours a day, all year round if that is what is required by the client.

Does Comfort Keepers provide services to those people living in nursing homes?

Yes, our team of dedicated caregivers provide living assistance services to seniors in nursing homes or assisted living communities who may be yearning for more attention and care.

Do written plans of care get made for each client? And how often are they modified?

Each Comfort Keepers office drafts a custom and personalized Plan of Care for each client, which documents the type and scope of services the client would like, as well as the frequency. Once the client, their family, and the local office agree to the Plan of Care, the accompanying office staff of that office will provide the designated caregiver with all of the details of the said plan.

Plans of Care are reviewed with our clients and their families at least once every 6 months and can be performed more frequently upon request. The review ensures that the client is receiving the best possible in-home living assistance services from our dedicated caregivers.
