Structured Family Caregiving Program

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Austintown, Ohio.

Get Paid to Care for a Loved One Through Ohio's Structured Family Caregiving Program

You may already be providing care. Now you may be able to receive compensation and support for it.

Every day, thousands of Ohio families provide care for aging parents, spouses, and loved ones at home. Many dedicate countless hours each week helping with bathing, dressing, meals, medications, mobility, and other essential daily tasks—often without pay.

Through Ohio's Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) Program, eligible family caregivers may receive a tax-free daily stipend while continuing to care for a loved one in the comfort of home.

Comfort Keepers of Youngstown can help you understand the program, determine eligibility, and provide ongoing support throughout the caregiving journey.

Are You Caring for a Loved One at Home?

You may qualify if:

The Care Recipient:

  • Is age 18 or older
  • Lives in the same home as the caregiver
  • Is enrolled in a Medicaid Waiver Program such as Passport, Ohio Home Care, or MyCare Ohio
  • Requires assistance with two or more Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including:
    • Bathing
    • Dressing
    • Toileting/incontinence care
    • Feeding
    • Mobility and transfers

The Caregiver:

  • Lives full-time with the care recipient
  • Can complete required training and pass a background check
  • Meets program requirements

In some cases, spouses may also qualify with approval from the care recipient's case manager or care coordinator.

Why Family Caregivers Need Support

Family caregiving is rewarding—but it can also be overwhelming.

In Ohio:

  • More than 409,000 family caregivers provide care to loved ones.
  • Caregivers provide an estimated 705 million hours of unpaid care annually.
  • 41% report financial strain due to caregiving responsibilities.
  • 29% experience moderate to high emotional stress.
  • 34% receive no caregiving assistance at all.

Many caregivers are balancing employment, raising children, household responsibilities, and their own health concerns while providing care.

You don't have to do it alone.
