Comfort Keepers In-Home Care in Peekskill, NY, was started in 2003 by Dr. Joy Traille, a former Microbiologist, in tribute to her mother, Leanorah Williams. Leanora lost her battle with heart disease at age 62. Joy learned first-hand about the challenges and joys of caregiving while caring for her mother throughout her long illness.
In 2006, Comfort Keepers in Peekskill became the system’s first licensed home care agency in New York State. This allowed the company to build on Kris Klum’s original non-medical model and provide additional home healthcare services such as nursing and personal care. In 2008, Comfort Keepers in Peekskill was chosen as Franchise of the Year, and the International Franchise Association awarded Joy Franchise of the Year. In 2009 Joy was awarded the Quality of Life by the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
