What is in home care and how does it differ from other forms of healthcare?

Essentially, elder care refers to all forms of care (medical or non-medical) that is provided to a client in their own home. However, recently there has been a slight shift in how people define home care - with “home care” referring to non-medical care such as companionship and other personal care services, while “home healthcare” referring to the provision of skilled nursing care. These forms of care can be things like speech, physical, or even occupational therapy.

What sort of services does Comfort Keepers provide?

Comfort Keepers provides a variety of senior care services such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, dietary help, grocery assistance and incidental transportation, medication reminders, personal hygiene care, and respite care. There are a variety of in-home care services that we provide as well, such as bathing, hygiene, mobility assistance, transferring/positioning, toileting/incontinence care, and special diet assistance. Some of our agencies even provide Dementia/Alzheimer’s care and in-home safety technology solutions.

How do you choose Comfort Keepers?

Every caregiver is a Comfort Keeper - an employee who is carefully chosen, screened, and trained before they ever treat a client. Every one of our caregivers also goes through a rigorous process that includes national and local criminal background checks, reference checks, and employment verification. All Comfort Keepers caregivers are bonded, insured, and covered by Workers’ Compensation insurance so that our clients can have peace-of-mind. We only hire the best caregivers because we want them to live out our core value of providing compassionate elder care.

How much does in-home senior care cost?

Every Comfort Keepers agency is independently owned and operated, so we encourage you to contact your local office directly for a list of services provided. Rates will depend on your area and vary by location.

Is Comfort Keepers available 24 hours, 7 days a week?

Yes, our services are available for as little as a few hours a day, or up to 24 hours, 7 days a week, and all year round, including holidays.

Can services be provided on short notice?

Yes, Comfort Keepers understands that situations can arise where elder care is needed in a hurry, so we can provide services on an as-needed basis.
