For the past two years, Lisa Hube of Comfort Keepers® Miami Valley has helped organize a food drive for seniors in need. She has been running a Comfort Keeper’s initiative called Feed Seniors Now™. In the past her efforts helped raise between 7,000 and 8,000 pounds of food! Like most people helping the needy, Lisa wanted her efforts to be larger and reach more seniors. She decided to reach out to large organizations in her area.

After hearing about AARP of Ohio’s plan to collect food, Lisa reached out to them. They are partnered together and are planning a one day event to collect food in the Miami Valley. On December 1 from 9 am to 3 pm they will be collecting food at local Dorothy Lane Markets. The event will involve stuffing a truck full of food and then the food will be donated to feed seniors. Comfort Keepers, along with AARP of Ohio, is collecting non perishable food. Seniors most commonly need foods such as peanut butter, oatmeal, vegetables and foods low in sodium.

Comfort Keepers has provided a great example of what can be strived for. If you are helping to feed seniors in your area let us know on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/ComfortKeepers.
