The Comfort Keepers Difference
For a few key reasons, Comfort Keepers’ senior care services exceed the quality and effectiveness of other brands on the market. Here’s what makes Comfort Keepers stand out from the rest:
- We match clients with caregivers: For maximum effectiveness of Comfort Keepers in-home care, we match each client with a caregiver based on the compatibility of their personalities. In matching clients and caregivers we also take into consideration their relative location to each other, the services the client needs, the special skills of the caregiver and if the client requires transportation.
- Our gifted caregivers: We have developed a recruitment, screening and hiring process that enables us to find uniquely qualified senior caregivers—who we call Comfort Keepers. The people we look for and hire consider elder care to be much more than a job. Senior caregiving is their calling in life, and every day they bring passion to their work to help seniors maintain a high quality of independent living. We also look for individuals who are experienced in senior care, including home health aides and certified nursing assistants.
For the safety and peace of mind of our senior clients and their families, we carefully screen all candidates’ criminal and driving records. We also interview them and check their references to make certain they have the unique qualifications to be a Comfort Keeper. Once we hire Comfort Keepers, we bond, insure and supervise them.
We also have all of our senior caregivers, no matter their level of experience, complete online training and orientation in Comfort Keepers’ proven style of caregiving. In addition we have registered nurses test our caregivers to make certain they have the skills they need before caring for Comfort Keepers clients. - Interactive Caregiving™: This is Comfort Keepers of Pipestone's special style of senior caregiving that truly raises the quality and effectiveness of our elder care above that of other senior caregiving providers. Through Interactive Caregiving™, Comfort Keepers allow senior clients to take an active role in their own care, based on their ability. They also engage seniors in a wide variety of physical, mental and social activities, giving them greater purpose and fulfillment and a stronger sense of independence and control in their lives. Comfort Keepers offer these activities based on their clients’ interests and abilities. These include taking walks in the neighborhood, dancing, playing board games, solving puzzles, engaging in hobbies, reminiscing and conversing, visiting friends and going on trips to favorite places, such as church, shopping, concerts or the local senior center.
Partnering with Families
Comfort Keepers become a trusted part of their clients’ families, giving families the freedom to be involved as much or as little in their loved one’s care as they choose or are able.
For families who are active in their loved one’s care, we offer respite care. Through respite care, we schedule a Comfort Keeper to come into the home as needed to allow the family caregiver to take time off to rest, go to work, attend to other responsibilities or even just to take a nap.
Comfort Keeper Services
We offer a wide range of senior care services to give us the flexibility to customize a plan of care unique to each senior and family we serve:
- Personal Care to uphold seniors’ dignity, quality of life and feeling of well-being. These services include help with hygiene, such as showering and bathing, feeding assistance, skin care, incontinence and toileting care, help getting around in and out of the house, and assistance getting in and out of a wheelchair, bed or chairs.
- Companionship Care, which combines the comforting companionship of a senior caregiver who also assists in needed household services, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, help with dressing and grooming, medication reminders and management, errands and transportation. Our franchise even offers transportation with a van that is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
- SafetyChoice® Technology Solutions include a personal emergency response system, with which a senior can summon help with the push of a button, and a medication management system that offers reminders to take medicine and signals a caregiver when a dose is missed. Comfort Keepers monitors these devices 24/7 at a monitoring center to assure the safety of seniors between a caregiver’s scheduled visits.
