Our Comfort Keepers® - Choosing the best:

Our caregivers have a wide variety of experience, ranging from a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) looking for one-on-one in home senior care opportunities, to caregivers with a desire to care for your loved ones locally because they can’t be with their own parents. Several of our caregivers have cared for their own relatives during illness such as Alzheimer’s disease or cancer. We all share a common goal of assisting your loved ones to remain safe and comfortable in their homes. We have devoted and loving caregivers to deliver our quality services. Our care providers are employees, not contractors, and are thoroughly screened, bonded and insuredThis is important because the liability remains with us, not you!  Keep this in mind when choosing in-home care services and home care for the elderly. Our caregivers would like to assist in keeping your relatives out of a nursing home, if all they need is some assistance with in home healthcare. We understand they’d rather remain at home, so our caregivers are here to help with our senior care services!

In selecting our Comfort Keepers®, we conduct a comprehensive background screening process which includes:

  •    statewide criminal background screen
  •    nationwide sex offender search
  •    driving record report
  •    social security check
  •    work and personal references
  •    drug testing

How we care – It’s what sets us apart:

We understand that caring for seniors is not just about the physical safety of seniors but also about preventing isolation and loneliness. At Comfort Keepers® we practice Interactive Caregiving (ICG).  ICG is a holistic way of delivering care that encompasses physical activity, mental stimulation, social engagement and emotional health that can genuinely change a person’s life. There is significant data that supports that when care is delivered holistically, it can reduce the risk of depression and improve physical health.

Our Comfort Keepers® story:

My journey to become a Comfort Keeper began after I watched my own mother, Mary, experience health issues. I was working full-time, had a family of my own, and wanted to spend extra time with my mom as she recovered from two surgeries. It became difficult to find the time to do all I wanted to do, but it didn’t change the need. I also watched my mother’s neighbor go through a difficult recovery following injuries from a traffic accident, driving home from an appointment. Her neighbor continued to experience health issues following her auto accident. The neighbor had daughters who lived out of state. Eventually, it became necessary to move their mom away from her home in Aurora to be closer to them.   It really frustrated me! I so wanted to help, but there weren’t enough hours in the day to perform my job and be able to provide the help they needed. Much of the time they needed assistance during ‘office hours’. I felt very sad - and guilty - that I couldn’t be of greater assistance to my mom and her neighbor. I knew there was an increasing demand for in home care for elderly, and I wanted to be part of the solution. I began to think about how I could provide in home care for seniors and those with disabilities. I was very interested in providing people with fair, honest and dependable in home elder care.

About that same time, there were rumblings that my employer would be facing major layoffs.

My husband, Joe, asked me what I was going to do if that happened. I told him I’d like to make a total career change and do something I was passionate about – something that really matters!  I was going to change careers and do something that had a positive impact on people’s lives - particularly seniors. It would involve driving people to their appointments, fixing them nutritious meals, keeping them involved in their recreational activities, helping with light housekeeping and laundry, and most importantly, providing companionship on a regular basis. I knew I could do that, and do it well! I had been active in ministries at my church for many years.   Pursuing this new type of work seemed like a natural extension for me. That is when I found Comfort Keepers ® and decided to join their strong network of caring and professional caregivers and home health aides to deliver in home health care.

I am fortunate to have Mary on our staff as office manager. Mary has a mentally disabled adult son, Donnie. Mary is not only an exceptional office manager, but is also very involved in the disabled community. She keeps Donnie very active with his passion - local hockey activities.   Mary also provides respite care for many families with disabled loved ones. She strives to ensure every family she encounters receives the support they need. She also knows first-hand how important it is to be able to leave your disabled loved one with a trusted caregiver.

Mary and I would be honored to assist your family in keeping your loved ones living safely and independently in their own homes, by providing assisted living at home.
