CARING COMFORT KEEPERS®
One of the main differences between Comfort Keepers and other in-home care agencies is the employees who serve as specially-trained caregivers, or “Comfort Keepers.”
To become a Comfort Keeper, applicants must undergo a stringent screening process including phone interview, completing an application about their senior services experience, an in-depth personal interview and aptitude test, followed by a comprehensive series of background checks, including criminal, driving and reference checks, so that you and your loved one can have absolute trust in the person who is providing the care. Although many applicants do not meet the unusually high standards, those who do join the Comfort Keepers team go through extensive preparation. Training consists of company policy and procedure as well as professional presentation, communication, ADL (Activities of Daily Living – mobility, feeding, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, bathing and transfers) and dietary requirements for seniors. Depending on the individual, the training also focuses on aspects of care that many in-home agencies do not address, such as body mechanics, hospice care, and Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
But what truly makes our Comfort Keepers special is their depth of warmth and compassion. In addition to the practical competence that is necessary to do the job, each employee must pass a “caring test.” Before an individual is allowed to come into your home, the simple question is asked: “Is this somebody I would want in my own family’s home?” Only when a gentle and kind spirit is sensed, when the answer is “yes,” do they become an official Comfort Keeper.
If you or a loved one is in need of senior home care, you will experience first-hand the warmth and compassion of a Comfort Keeper in your home. Many clients speak of their caregivers as friends or family members in their homes. It is this combination of practical competence with a tender, loving heart for seniors that makes Comfort Keepers’ caregivers truly unique—it’s why we call ourselves “Comfort Keepers.”
Comfort Keepers provide in home care for elderly clients in their own homes or assisted living homes, and we also provide care in other health care facilities. We serve many other individuals challenged with arthritis, cancer, depression, diabetes, hearing loss, heart disease, incontinence, mobility issues, neurological disorders, nutritional deficiencies, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s, sleep disorders, and vision impairments too. And, often care is as much to provide respite care for the family caregiver as it is for the client. To see a list of caregiver jobs click here.
Your concerns are important to us! Please call us at 626-254-0100 or email us at ck763@comfortkeepers.com, and we will personally and confidentially answer your questions about home care service. When someone wants to know if Comfort Keepers is right for them, we will provide a free initial assessment of his or her needs. We will ask and answer questions to determine what the client would need, as well as make recommendations on care services, and also take the time to learn which of the many trained Comfort Keepers would be the best fit for his or her individual personality and situation. Depending on what the client requests, we encourage that they involve family and friends in the discussions and planning process as much as the client desires, and keep all parties involved and aware of any changes that may develop as the client’s needs change over time. We continue to encourage communication between the family and Comfort Keepers to ensure we provide homecare that meets or exceeds expectations and outcomes objectives.
