The Comfort Keepers Difference

Comfort Keepers has earned a reputation for exceptionally effective in-home senior care for a few important reasons:

  • The quality of our caregivers: Comfort Keepers—our caregivers—have a true passion for improving the lives of seniors. They are driven by the rewarding feeling that comes from enabling seniors to continue living safely and independently where thy most want to live: in the comfort of their own homes.

To find the people with this natural drive and gift to serve older adults, Comfort Keepers has developed rigorous recruiting, screening and hiring protocols. These include personal and professional references, and a series of criminal and driving record background checks to assure the safety and well-being of our clients and their families.

We look for caregivers who have personal or professional experience in caring for seniors. To prepare caregivers to provide our unique style of senior care, we provide them extensive orientation and training, including training in dementia care. To continually enhance their skills, Comfort Keepers also complete ongoing training throughout their tenure with us.
  • Interactive Caregiving™: Through Interactive Caregiving™, Comfort Keepers’ distinctive style of senior care, our caregivers actively involve seniors in their own caregiving to strengthen their independence and sense of control over their lives. Comfort Keepers also encourage their clients to stay active physically, mentally and socially, involving them in a wide variety of activities, such as taking walks, solving puzzles, engaging in hobbies and playing games, reminiscing, visiting friends and going to favorite places, such as church, concerts, the grocery or a social club.

Numerous studies have shown the positive effects of this kind of elder care: improved outlook on life, greater independence and quality of life, and better physical, mental and emotional health.
  • Matching clients and caregivers: We make Comfort Keepers care even more effective for seniors by matching new clients with Comfort Keepers for compatibility – based on personality, common interests, special care needs and training.

We Partner with Families

Comfort Keepers allows families to choose how involved they want to be in their senior loved one’s care. Many families are unable to provide direct caregiving, because of geographic distance from their loved one. Regardless of a family’s degree of direct involvement, however, Comfort Keepers continually keeps families informed about their loved one’s care and status.

We also give families peace of mind that when they can’t be with their loved one, their loved is being cared for by someone who shares their concern.

For those families who are directly involved in caregiving, Comfort Keepers provide high-quality respite care in Blaine and White Bear Lake. This respite care service offers family caregivers opportunities to take time off to rest up and re-energize for a few hours, go on vacation or go to work.

The Services of Comfort Keepers

Drawing from a comprehensive line of quality senior care services, Comfort Keepers can tailor a plan of care to provide the assistance each senior and family need to support safe, satisfying, independent, in-home living. You can call on our Comfort Keepers to provide from as little as two hours of service a day to 24/7 care. We also offer periodic care to help you out on those occasions you need it. Our services include:

  • Companionship Care services provided by a Comfort Keeper, who enriches clients’ lives through activities, conversation and companionship, along with help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, assistance with dressing and grooming, medication reminders, errands and incidental transportation, including transportation to doctor’s appointments.
  • Personal Care services that help seniors maintain their dignity and quality of life as they receive assistance with personal hygiene, such as bathing or showering, grooming, skin care, feeding assistance, toileting and incontinence care, mobility at home and in the community, and help with safe transfers to and from bed, chairs or a wheelchair.
  • Private Duty Nursing, which provides Comfort Keepers clients a nurse to manage chronic and acute health care conditions. This service can be scheduled along with other Comfort Keepers services.
  • SafetyChoice® Technology Solutions, electronic devices that supplement caregiving services. Monitored around the clock at Comfort Keepers’ monitoring station, these devices help keep seniors safe at home between caregiver visits.  SafetyChoice® features a personal emergency response system that alerts help with the simple push of a button on a pendant or wristband worn by a senior, and a medication management system that reminds seniors to take medicine and sends out an alert to a caregiver when a dose is missed.
  • Post-Hospital Care and Support helps seniors and other clients recover in the comfort of home after surgery or hospital treatment for an injury or illness.
  • Hospice Care Support provides personal and companionship care to advance the comfort and quality of life of hospice patients. Comfort Keepers provides these services in partnership with hospice nursing services.
  • Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care is provided by specially trained Comfort Keepers who help families provide a safe, supportive in-home environment for loved ones who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia. They are trained to care for clients at various stages of dementia.
