Thank You Comfort Keepers!
Comfort Keeper Vi Keller Brings Valuable
Knowledge to the Table!
A very grateful daughter credits her mother’s improved health to the caring and conscientious efforts of Comfort Keeper Vi Keller. Over the years, Vi gained valuable knowledge about diabetes while helping her husband manage his health after his diabetes diagnosis. So, when Vi was assigned as primary caregiver to a senior with diabetes, she contributed both her knowledge and common sense to help her client manage her blood sugar. And, while Comfort Keepers only provides non-medical care, our primary focus is always on the health and well-being of our clients. In an effort to help regulate her client’s blood sugar, Vi told the client’s daughter about ready-to-drink shakes that are specifically formulated to help prevent blood sugar spikes and to curb hunger. The daughter wasn’t familiar with these products, and decided to check them out based on Vi’s recommendations. She bought some of the shakes, and since her mother began drinking them, her glucose levels have greatly improved. In addition, Vi has worked diligently to help set a balanced eating schedule for her client in order to prevent blood sugar issues. The appreciative family now adheres to this schedule and is very glad that these changes have helped their senior loved one stabilize her diabetes. The family is thankful for all of Vi’s help and dedication, and we thank Comfort Keeper Vi Keller for being one of our best, and going above and beyond in her duties as a Comfort Keeper!
Emily Hill and Interactive Caregiving at its Best!
If we could only use one word to describe Comfort Keeper Emily Hill, that word would be…AWESOME! And, Emily’s client in Parker and the client’s family would certainly agree. Emily’s client suffered a traumatic brain injury which significantly impaired her speech and motor skills, as well as her cognitive abilities. When Comfort Keepers was called to aid in the care of this individual, we assigned Emily as her primary caregiver. Emily’s natural caregiving skills, along with her knowledge of Comfort Keepers’ trademark Interactive Caregiving philosophy, have proven to make a vast improvement in her client’s progress.
Emily was determined to help her client along the path to recovery; she decided to make flash cards with letters and numbers that they now use together to help stimulate speech and motor skills, and cognitive abilities. The client can now select the letters that spell her name, as well as other words. And, even though Emily’s client isn’t very fond of math, Emily has been working with her on that, too! They often read together and the client is now even reading aloud as well. ”Beauty and the Beast” has become a favorite! Emily also encourages her client to exercise on the seated step machine, cheering her on so she can improve and strengthen her motor skills. In between these activities, they talk and laugh together a lot, which family members say is a wonderful sound to hear. According to grateful family members, they are thrilled with their loved one’s amazing progress, which they credit greatly to our outstanding Comfort Keeper Emily Hill. Thank you, Emily, for what you do to make a difference each and every day!
Family Has Special Words for Comfort Keeper Mike Maloney
We wanted to share this special letter we received from a very appreciative family regarding the fine care Comfort Keeper Mike Maloney provided. With permission of the family, and Comfort Keeper Mike Maloney, here is that letter.
December 3, 2011
Mr. Mike Maloney
Comfort Keepers
Dear Mike,
Just a note to thank you for your excellent service to my dad, Carl Kuchera (and mom) while he was a resident at Davis House these past 7 months. Dad spoke very favorably of you, which was such a relief for my wife and I, living 300 miles away. I know he wasn't easy to transport, with his limited walking ability and potential to lose feeling in his legs.
I found it especially pleasing that, even at such short notice, you were able to come to Davis House the last night of his life and be there to watch over him. My pastor would call that one of those "divine appointments", a meeting between people scheduled by God. Our responsibility is to just show up, which you did. Dad may not have been conscious or alert enough to know you were there, but we do, and we are grateful. Thank you.
Connie and I wish you the best in the direction your life takes you.
Respectfully,
Carl J. Kuchera, Jr.
Santa Ana, CA
We know that our caregivers work hard every day helping make life better for our clients and their families. We are grateful to the Kuchera family for taking the time to let us, and Comfort Keeper Maloney, know how much his tender care meant to them.
