About Susan Drake
After seventeen years as a Civil Engineer, I started a new career as an owner of a child care center. While operating the center my family had a need for adult in-home care. My dad had Parkinsons Disease and dementia.
His care required more than my mom and other family members could provide.
Since we could not find a company to provide a few hours during the day and hours at night in the small town where my parents lived, we had to move my dad to a facility.
One evening while visiting my dad, he looked at me and said “Susan, I’ve been behaving now for a while. When can I go home?”
My dad passed on two weeks later without the chance to go home. It was at this time that I knew my next career would involve in-home care. I didn’t want other families to go through the same experience of wanting their loved one to be at home but not being able to find care.
After much research I found Comfort Keepers and feel passionate about providing services for non-medical in-home care to those who want to stay at home.
