Comfort Keepers stands out as the premier provider of in-home care because of the people we select to be Comfort Keepers—individuals who have a natural desire and gift to help seniors.

At Comfort Keepers of Huntington Beach, this difference starts with owner and operator Karen Shintaku Brumm. Karen formerly worked as an Acute Care Rehabilitation Liaison and served another senior care agency, where she discovered her passion for enabling seniors to continue living in their own homes.

Through word of mouth, Karen discovered Comfort Keepers and learned that Comfort Keepers shares her vision and passion for helping seniors maintain independent living.
 
We begin the process of hiring Comfort Keepers with an online survey and behavioral testing. This narrows the field of candidates to those who have the personality and genuine interest to serve seniors and other adults in need of in-home assistance. We then conduct personal interviews and complete extensive background checks. Our Comfort Keepers receive specialized training to deliver the exceptional Comfort Keeper brand of caregiving. And to maintain and enhance their high level of elder care skills, Comfort Keepers complete ongoing training every single year.

Your Partner in Care

Our Comfort Keepers work closely with families, and we give families the opportunity to be as involved in their loved one’s care as they wish to be. We keep family informed about changes we observe in their loved one, and accordingly, we recommend changes in the care plan to allow the client to maintain as high a quality of life, health, and independence at home as possible.

We regularly review the care plan of each client to measure its effectiveness in supporting independence. We also review the performance of our caregivers, schedule monthly visits to clients’ homes, and gather feedback from clients and caregivers. Through these means we strive to assure family members that their loved ones are receiving the best of care.

In addition to Comfort Keepers our team includes:

  • Schedule Coordinator, who answers your calls and makes certain that Comfort Keepers are scheduled to serve clients as needed—helping clients and families on evenings and weekends, when necessary.
  • Client Care Coordinator, who maintains regular contact with Comfort Keepers, clients and families to make certain clients’ needs are being satisfied. The Client Care Coordinator also explains Comfort Keepers services to prospective clients and their families and keeps family members updated on their loved one’s care and status.
  • Administrative Assistant, who assists with office operations, human resources and training.
  • Marketing and Sales Coordinator, who networks with other local senior and health care providers (such as hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities) to market Comfort Keepers services and develop links for Comfort Keepers clients to other needed services not provided by Comfort Keepers
