Senior Care in Henderson & Las Vegas, Nevada
Comfort Keepers® of Henderson and Las Vegas has one primary purpose: to help seniors and our other adult clients continue living in the comfort of their own homes, safely, happily and independently. Our compassionate caregivers, Comfort Keepers, help them enjoy life to the fullest through our unique system of in-home care. We help them with the activities of daily living and enable them to stay engaged in the activities that bring them enjoyment and add meaning to their life.
At the same time, we provide support to our clients’ families. We help them provide for their loved ones’ care and give them peace of mind that when they cannot be directly involved in caregiving, their loved one is being well cared for by Comfort Keepers.
The Advantages of Comfort Keepers
The in-home senior care of Comfort Keepers surpasses the quality of care of other home care providers in two very significant ways:
- The quality of our caregivers, whom we call Comfort Keepers.
- Our unique system of in-home caregiving: Interactive Caregiving™, which enriches the lives of seniors physically, mentally and emotionally.
Caregivers Who Genuinely Care
Our first priority in hiring Comfort Keepers is finding people who share our passion for enriching the lives of seniors and enabling them to enjoy independent living at home. All of our Comfort Keepers are our employees and not private contractors, so we take great care in hiring the best caregivers possible.
We have a thorough system for choosing the best. We look for experienced caregivers, and all candidates must pass background checks, physicals and Department of Motor Vehicle checks.
Before they begin caring for clients, Comfort Keepers must complete extensive, specialized, hands-on training in such areas as activities of daily living, home safety and Alzheimer’s and dementia care. In addition to home care skills, Comfort Keepers learn the importance of respecting their clients’ homes.
Once our Comfort Keepers complete training we carefully match them with clients based on personalities, interests, special care needs and special training and skills. We have found that making good client-caregiver matches makes a great difference in the effectiveness of Comfort Keepers care.
Interactive Caregiving™
Interactive Caregiving™ is our distinctive style of care designed according to research that shows that seniors, who stay actively involved in life—physically, mentally and emotionally—enjoy better health and wellness, feel more in control of their lives and maintain independence longer.
Comfort Keepers allow seniors to be as involved in their own care as they are able. In addition, Comfort Keepers provide their clients many opportunities to engage in activities they enjoy. These activities include physical exercise, such as walking or dancing; mental activity, such as solving puzzles, participating in hobbies or reading; and social activities, such as shopping, going to church or a senior center, or visiting friends.
We Partner with Families
Comfort Keepers gives families the opportunity to be as involved in their loved one’s care as they desire and are able. For families who are active caregivers for their loved ones, Comfort Keepers provides respite care. Through respite care, a Comfort Keeper comes into the home as needed, allowing the family caregiver time off to rest and re-energize, go to work or take care of other responsibilities.
In other cases, in which families live away from their loved one, our Comfort Keepers provide the peace of mind that their loved one is being well cared for.
However, no matter a family’s level of involvement in senior caregiving, Comfort Keepers keeps the channels of communication open to fully inform families about their loved one’s care and changes in status.
The Services of Comfort Keepers
Comfort Keepers’ comprehensive array of in-home elder care services can be tailored to deliver the specific types of assistance a senior needs to continue living safely and independently in his or her own home. Services can be scheduled as little as one hour a week to full-time, 24/7 care, depending on the specific needs of a senior and family. Comfort Keepers services include:
- Personal Care. Comfort Keepers help their senior clients maintain dignity while assisting them with personal hygiene, such as bathing or showering, grooming, skin care, toileting and incontinence care, feeding and assistance with mobility and transfers.
- Companionship Care. Comfort Keepers engage in conversation with their clients and assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, reminders to take medications, standby help with dressing and grooming, transportation and errands.
- Interactive Caregiving™. This is Comfort Keepers’ unique system of caregiving in which caregivers engage seniors in their own care and involve them in activities that they enjoy. Interactive Caregiving™ brings meaning and quality to their lives and enhances their well-being physically, mentally and emotionally.
- SafetyChoice Technology Solutions. These devices, which are monitored around the clock at a national monitoring center, supplement Comfort Keepers’ caregiving services, as they help assure the health and safety of seniors when caregivers are not present. They include a Personal Emergency Response System, which allows seniors to call for help with the push of a button in the event they become ill or injured when home alone. A fall detector also is available to alert the monitoring center when a senior falls.
- Post-Hospital Care and Support. We help seniors and other clients recuperate in the comfort of home after a hospital stay for surgery or treatment of injury or illness.
- Hospice Care. In partnership with hospice agencies, Comfort Keepers provide hospice patients in-home care that promotes their comfort and quality of life.
- Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care. Comfort Keepers enables seniors and other adult clients with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia to continue living safely at home. Our Comfort Keepers complete training that prepares them to promote the quality of life of persons with dementia at the various stages of the condition.
Partnering with Other Services
To provide seniors and their families convenient access to a broader range of senior and health care services, Comfort Keepers partners with other providers, such as home health care and hospice agencies. We also work closely with the Alzheimer’s Association. Helping families with the challenges of Alzheimer’s care is a passion of Comfort Keepers.
